Apparently the people who drew that up, weren't listening to his speech very carefully. Obama wasn't mocking the Bible at all. He was just pointing out that we, in general, do not base our actions on the Bible.

Slavery used to be a fact of life in Bible times. Our culture has given it up although it still exists in some parts of the world. We consider it wrongeven though the Bible approves of it.

According to the Bible you could get stoned for a whole bunch of actions, including Sabbath violations. Has anyone bought groceries or gassed up on the Sabbath lately?

And no, military training is not not based on the Sermon on the Mount. But even beyond that, you don't have to spend much time on these forums to read what people suggest doing to people who wrong them somehow. This, in spite of God's statement, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay...."

Obama is not mocking the Bible. He's just pointing out our hypocrisies.

By the way, I'm not an Obama supporter. I think he would make an absolutely atrocious choice for president.
