When Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell all and give it to the poor and come follow him, How much effect would his message have had if he were dressed in such garb?
Wisdom is justified of her children.
Although Jesus wore a cloak that was too good to tear into pieces---
John 19:23-24, His undergarment was seamless, woven in one piece from neck to hem, so they said to one another, "Instead of tearing it, let's throw dice to decide who is to have it".
Not that a seamless undergarment is a Rolex... Just a point to ponder...

No, he would have sold it t, he didn't need anything to make Him feel good about Himself, after all He had the whole world.
Vizsla Vince your right about His undergarment, but it was undergarment, not to be seen by others. Understanding the times and the geographical location good undergarments were a necessity (to keep cool and sanitary). The undergarment could have been a gift, or he may have bought them when he was a carpenter.
Good point, Rev. Like I said, not a rolex, but His clothes were good enough to divide up. He probably didn't go about looking like a rich man, but apparently wasn't shabby either.
Recalling the annointing at Bethany, the woman annointed Jesus with the ointment... The disciples admonished the woman , complaining that the oil could have been sold to feed the poor. Does this imply that that was a common practice among the disciples, to sell gifts given to Jesus to pay the poor?

This new "Gospel will make you rich " has become popular since the late 70s..but it has always been around..Paul purposely worked a job to keep from being accused of such ordeal,..to keep the gospel message pure.
1 Timothy 6: 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Jesus took the ointment from Mary! This was worth about a years salary. If a persons years salary isn't going to solve the poverty problem in the world neither is the price of a rolex watch.
