How do you develope patience? I've heard a number of people (including a few pastors) say that you should be careful about praying for God to give you patience since [oftentimes] He will help you to develope it by giving you many practice opportunities. I'm not looking for more obstacles to overcome, so I'm looking for something some of y'all have tried - and works.
It's funny how I can sit for hours in a treestand, even without seeing much and I'm OK with that, yet I don't like sharing the road with others! And traffic lights!!!!!!! . . . . On Monday, we drove to the beach - about a 3 hour drive and about 100 traffic lights. I think I caught two of them green. I wasn't a happy camper.[:@]

It's heped me a lot to really realize that things aren't all about me, people are not here to line up with my expectations, expediance is not always possible or practical, folks have different limitations, and to just be in the moment.
Patience is a trademark of my folks, as I've heard it often that I'm like my grandfather and my dad in that respect. Even so, patience can be tried and a primal roar will releave stress and entertain those around you.

You can't appreciate how much I can relate to this post! Patience is a virtue that, to say the least, doesn't come natural to me and it seems the harder I try to control my temper the more things crop up to test it. I particularly relate to the treestand part too.
What really is troubling to me is that it's not the big things I loose it over but rather the little ones and invariably Iregret itlater. My wife and I can carry on a mature discussion over a disagreement envolving a serious issue in our lives but then, though I cherish her above all things,I'll become sarcastic and ill tempered over some triviality. It seems my tongue is too often quicker than my reason and I hate myself for not being able to control it.
I hope you get a good answer to your question daveH as I will be watching this thread intently. Wish I had the answer!

Live Life in such a way that those who do not know Christ will come to know Him because they know you
I do know how to release the day to day tensions though.
I just type snooky in a post and i will get a answer I probably won't understand. I can then ponder it for a couple of days and hope someone else will shed some light. Only kidd'n snooky
I enjoy your comments greatly.Don't loose patience.
1- Stand in the grocery line with a fussing baby who has just realized that she's hungry, while the customer in front of you waits until all her groceries have been rung up before she starts rooting around in her purse for her checkbook. Then wait while she stands there and updates her check register.
2- Be in the 10 second left-turn lane and watch people who drive 1/2 car length behind at 85 on the expressway, allow six or more car lengths to make a left turn.
3- Try to read through posts on HNI with no paragraphing.
I can come up with more, but you can start with these.
