What do you think about other religions? I often get the question "Well why is christianity right and the others wrong?" It sure is a tough question. All I can usually say is "well I know Jesus".

Stand fast to the end in what you believe and let the Lord be the judge on others!

Sometimes people who ask that are just looking for an argument. For example, shamlin here on this forum has suggested that people talk to him in their own words instead of just tossing Bible passages at him. I've offered to do that twice, but have gotten no response. So I'm thinking he just wants to argue. Some people just want to express hostility. Even a couple of regular members on this forum use it to express their hostility towards Catholics. Is this expression of hostility a Christian thing? Not really my place to judge, but I don't think so.

On the other hand, some people may come here with questions because they get the feeling they might be missing something. Do you bring them to the faith by hurling Bible passages at them and threatening them with eternal torment if they don't "believe?" I don't think so. I've already mentioned here that I grew up with absolutely no exposure to religion beyond being baptized as an infant. What drew me? I've explained that too. It was exactly the feeling I got from my husband that I might be missing something. If daddy had started tormenting me with Bible verses, I would have run the other way. It probably would have ended our relationship also.

When I went to my priest to talk about it, he welcomed me into his flock. When I went up in the communion line, I coudn't receive the host because I hadn't converted yet,but he put his hand on my head and blessed me. I seemed to me that's what Jesus would have done. When I expressed concern about my mission in life, my reason for being here, he told me that my mission as a wife, mother, and teacher(eventually) was just as much a mission as his. It was what God meant me to be and if I fulfilled that mission, I would be doing God's will. That's why I can'trelate to these discussions of what a terrible sinner I am and so forth. I am not perfect, but I work hard at my mission in life and that's what I'm supposed to do.

My feeling and belief is, the Bible must be the final word. Jesus must be preached signifying that we are saved by GRACE and grace alone. If these two things are agreed upon I can justify that as a viable denomination. If those two things are not agreed upon, I consider it as another religion. A religion can mean anything, people that practice worshiping trees can be considered a religion.
Those that claim they have a way to God without Jesus, are not worth my time investigating. I've been there, done that, God has revealed to me that Jesus is the only way.

First off Good luck with that question Unc.

Second DLG I am not trying to argue, and I have in no way intentionaly ignored any of your posts- I will go back and re-read them if necessary and respond I am sorry that you think I was ignoring you. I just got wraped up in other conversations.

I just see these people with a blind faith towards one religion (christainty) and everyone else is wrong. The only thing that they do when I challenge them is quote bible verses, which is fine but when the credibilty of the religion is in question, it seems a mute point to me to defend it with the bible.

I want to know why you are right and the rest of the world is wrong, without hearing because "Jesus said so". I personally beleive the truth is somewhere in the middle, and that qualifies me as Agnostic.

Hey, don't speak for me!!! You have no idea what kind of faith I have or where I've been. I don't have to justify myself to you or anyone else. I can tell you I've investigated most religions and found the True God though Jesus Christ who revealed Himself to me. But I'm sure you couldn't get that through you blind thick head of yours. So don't go pointing fingers that Christians have blind faith. Unless you've walked in my shoes, don't speak for me, I take offense to that. Now you've gone too far.

Sham, Am I right, "You don't want to argue"? And if everyone else is NOT wrong, then they must be right? Is that what your saying? Everyone is saved as long as they are good people? Then why the burr under saddle when it comes to Christians? Don't you think that they are "good" people as well as Muslims, agnostics, witchs and warlords ect.?

Rev...... this is a free country and I will voice my opinion in any way I wish, as long as it is within the rules of the forum. As long as you tell people you are right only because Jesus said so, then I will continue to point fingers at that and question that as well. It is not my puropse to offend you, I just was trying to understand the way you ALL think. Every time I question something everybody get very defensive like the mere idea of questioning the Bible is a deadly virus.

It seems pointless to threaten me via the internet.

snook it is not just christianity it is major religions in general. How can anybody say they are right and all others are wrong, that goes for Mulsims, and Jews and Christians alike. If a Muslim beleives he is right and all christians go the hell then he is jsut as ingorant in my eyes, I dont have a burr in my saddle for christians there just happens to be no other religion here to challenge.

That is NOT what I am saying look at my previous post I said "the truth is somewhere in the middle"
