"Your body becomes liberated after three days of fasting. Your spirit is free to worship God without the hindrance of the flesh. Your spirit is transformed like "Arnold Schwarzenegger," ready to "terminate" the works of hell and reach into heaven to effortlessly pull down every blessing belonging to you!"
Fasting as a way to spiritual experience is well known in the Far East, India in particular. The American Indians also fasted for extended periods to induce spiritual experiences.
The changes in body chemistry induced by fasting can affect mental processes. That raises the question of whether or not what you experience is a genuine spiritual experience.

I heard Jesus He drank wine and I bet we'd get along just fine.
When Jesus fasted 40 days AND 40 nights, was he having a delusion when satan confronted him?
When he said "this kind goeth not out but by fasting and prayer" did he mean, The devils are only subject to delusions and prayer?
Fasting doesn't force God to do anything. Fasting is crucifying of the flesh and surrendering of the human will unto the will of the Spirit of God. When one dies to the flesh, they become alive unto God. The old man dies, that the new man might live.
A true fast is no food until the hunger ceases, (3-7) days. Continuing without food until the pains of hunger returns, (14-45 days). Gradually return to normal eating, (one day for every day fasted). Some fast 12, 24, 48, 72, hours and accomplish much. Some have regular fasting days, once, twice, something three days each week. Some fast the first 3 days of each month, followed by every Monday and Friday for the rest of the month. Some fast the first week of every month, The times and patterns or up to the individual as is the times of prayer.
Remember the old saying, The time spent sharping the hoe is never wasted time.

Good answer! To me fasting is a way to recharge your spiritual batteries.
Biblical fasting is when you freely give up foodand drink or those things that you enjoy in life..you must devote yourelf to God and and think about spiritual goals.. especially your lust of the flesh and spiritual enemies..fasting is not for salvation and not for show and not just because someone else is fasting..it is also not for physical health..fasting does not mean we will get our prayers answered..
remember, God does not command fasting, He commends it..
good time to fast is when we are tempted grearly and when we need wisdom and for most of us that is many times..fast when you really need something from God and it hasn't come to you in prayer..fast during times of repentance, confession, and revival...so you see you just don't fast just to be fasting, you must have a legitmate reason for it..
there are many verses of scripture about this and if you want them i will post them..

"There's room at the cross for you."
Although we are not commanded to fast...Jesus does command us to take up our cross DAILY..and that is essential to salvation
Paul said.."We must die to ourselves." and this is essential to salvation..
For if ye sowto the flesh ye shall reap death..We are in a daily warfare..Paul said.."I buffet my body lest after leading many to Christ i myself might be a castaway.
So no matter what your style.."Ye must bare your cross daily to be one of Christ's disciple."
