Default Forgiveness

Does anyone have some good material on forgiveness,,,I have a family member having a hard time forgiving another family member about things that happen many years ago..I have tried toexplain we should forgive like God forgives us uncondiational, but I'm not the best with words, so I was hopeing someone would have something I could pass along,,,I told them to pray everyday that God would change thier heart and to do a bible study on forgiveness ,,but I don't think that will happen.

Have the people asked for forgiveness? Sometimes you have to ask. Every year on my birthday, my mom would send her parents a picture of me and every year they would send it back. When I turned sixteen, she asked me if I wanted to send a picture and I said no. When Miriam was born, my mom asked if I wanted to send a picture and tell them. I said no.

If they ever contact me and ask for forgiveness for rejecting me, I'll forgive them, but they'll have to ask. Of course only my mom can forgive them for what they did to her.

If we dont forgive wewill not be forgiven!

Mat 6:14

For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Mat 6:15

But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

My friend ..it's very sad but I've ran into quite a few ..even " leaders " in the church who have still not learned the importance of forgiveness. From experience I have one word for ya..that has worked for me. Once I was put in a classroom with adjudicated highschool youths..for a year..I was scared and after reading thier files I was even more concerned..even for my life..I was convicted because God's Words says that "Perfect love casteth out all fear." and obviously I lacked love ."And he that loveth not knoweth not God." []So here is the advice the Lord gave me and the advice I pass down to your friend. The Lord spoke to me.."Pray for them everyday..for it's impossilbe to hate someone that your praying for." Why??because your expecting growth and good things in thier life..I still do this even today..The Word says at the end .."Because iniquity shall abound , the love of many shall wax cold." I don't want my love waxing cold..I want my love to grow each day with a compassion for the lost and for God.

God bless,
C7

All is possible with grace. Your prayer will help more than anything.

That's what I think

True forgiveness is so hard, yet so Christlike. Our family has been challenged with learning to forgive. My grand daughter was sexually molested when she was three by my step son who was 18 at the time. He went to prison for three years for this, and has been released for almost a year. Our whole family was torn apartmentally and spiritually by this.
My daughter had so much hate ( and I understand it completely) that it was controlling her life (she wanted to kill him). I prayed for her continually about this, I would speak to her about this on a regular basis. I told her thatun-forgiveness was like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die, because our animosity will onlydestroy us, not only spiritually but physically as well.. This Christmas she sent him a Christmas card with cash as a way to say, I'm working on forgiving you.
It's so easy to quote scripture, but true forgiveness is more than words. I'm still working on forgiving him, I know I haven't completely but I'm working on it.

i like that and sadly it is very true[&o], i know i have not been thru some of the trials some of you have endured, but i decided years ago, the time i was loosing is way to valueable to let anyone steal it, and when you have hate, resentment, or worryin your heart, those things are stealing time that could be better spent...

All thru the grace of God

This is a pretty good article by Joyce Meyer. http://www.joycemeyer.org/OurMinistries/EverydayAnswers/Articles/art48.htm

Jesus had some good advice in Luke 17:16

1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

I wouldn't be too hard on your self. I recall Mathew 18 15-17 when I get all mixed upon these kind of things.

..... if he fessed up then you have to work harder, not for him but for yourself. In that case you are exactly right., Plenty of scripture on that.

I don't know if this helped any. You probably considered all this. I don't know all the circumstances.
