Gods Image in us??

A few months ago I started a thred about Gods image in us,What was it??? Love? compassion? ect,, You ever have those question you just can't let go? ,,through studying the Word I believe God has answerd my question. If you remember in Genesis 1:26,,Then God said, "œLet Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;,,When man was created he was sinless and had a unique knowledge andrelationship with God...But when man sinned it severd that knowledge and relationship that knowledge of who God really is?

In Colossians 3:10-11,,We see that knowledge can be renewed,,,
And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

It is through our faith in Jesus Christ that, that knowledge and relationship is renewed,,,So as for me I believe the image of God that is in us,,is the knowledgethat God is the creater of all things and our Lord and Savior!!! And that all mankind can have this knowledge renewed through faith in the blood of Jesus!

This gives a new meaning to Image is everything

You know, I just may be going off on a tangent here but when I think about it this comes to mind . . . ."the word was with God, and the Word was God" , "and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among men" , and then somewhere in John 14 . . .Even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him, but ye know Him for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
I know . . . .it's an incomplete thought and may go sideways if I think about it longer but it initially seems to tie in with what your saying as the Word was God and was made flesh and dwells in us therefore it seems that thru the Word abiding in us that gives us an aspect of being in his image.
I may be sorry I posted this even my Scriptures may be off as I did'nt take time to look them up.[&:]

My friend,
I see it literal..God was manifested in the flesh..and He looked just like us..The Word says God has arms, ears , eyes , nostrils ,etc. Moses saw parts of God..

The clear teaching of the Old Testament is that there is one God, undivided as to his person and that he made man in his IMAGE and in his LIKENESS. That we are all ONE PERSON having a three-fold composition of body, soul, and spirit, but still ONE PERSON, is the exact picture of God. Our soul is manifest in a body. God is manifest in a body. God is one. Jesus is God by virtue of his dual nature. God in Christ; the Father in the Son; Emmanuel God with us; The LORD who ye seek shall come to his Temple; In that day, they shall say this is our God, we have waited for him.

these are great examples of Gods image in us,,,,I think another thing we should think about ,,is that God created us with an eternal spirit or soul to fellowship with Him forever just as He is eternal. (I'm not saying we are equal with God) Just that we are going to spend eternity somewhere,,if we answer the call of the Holy Spirit and renew that fellowship with a repentant life, We'll spend it with our Lord and Savior,,, and if we don't that sin that separated us in the garden and continues todaywill keep us from our creator FOREVER!! the One our spirit longs to be re-united with.

On our physical body,we have a nose so we can smell things. Why would God have a nose? God has no physical body or any need to smell things. We have ears so we can hear things. Why would God have ears?

I don't think "in His image he made man" means that God looks like our physical bodies.

The way i think of being made in the image of God is, If God were an immence ball of pure white light then man would be a little speck of pure white light (stuck in a physical human body)

The Word says it very plainly. We are created in the same form as God. This scripture not only says we have the physical likeness but havedominion overearth just as God has dominion over us. I always associate our mouth with the mouth of God. In the beginning when God spoke he created. Gods power is often spoke of as in his mouth.Since we are created in his likeness this explains why the tounge is as sharp as a 2 edged sword. This is why we will be judged on the words we speak. Being created in the image of God we have power in our mouths just as God does.

Jesus was with God from the beginning, and nothing is formed outside of Him ...... So God does have a body, in Jesus, and thus , the Scripture is correct in saying in OUR image and in OUR likeness. To have the Body of Christ and the Spirit of God. You have heard the saying that we are the Body of Christ. ANd Christ was .... from the beginning.

What Are We?

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female created He them. And God blessed them and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it...........
Genesis 1:27-28 (In these 3 verses God tells us 4 x's He created us, 3 of those 4 tell us we are created in His image)

Thy hands have made me and fashioned me; give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments. (This verse reminds me of the post Kosherboy just put up)
Psalm 119:73

For You formed my inward parts, You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows well. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Isaiah 40:29 (we must rely on Him)

We are all God's creation big, tall or small, we are all individually created with our own strengths and weaknesses. We are complex beings being made of many parts just as God is a complex being.
