It has been said that the Bible is a book of types and shadows. What is meant by a type, or a shadow?
A definition of the word "type" is:
a representative or typical specimen; likeness of something to come; example; model.
A definition of the word "Shadow" is:
the dark part of a place or picture. a faint image. a small degree, a faint image, a reflected image.
As a verb a definition is; represent in a prophetic way.
Is it safe to say that a type or shadow would be a spiritual truth, yet to be revealed, whenseen in a scriptual model designed by theprophetic foreknowledge of God?
Would the types and shadows of the coming Christ, when revealed within the workings of the law of Moses, pertain only to the nation of Israel? Or would they pertain to all mankind?
When the righteousness of the One True God, is revealed within the law, does that righteousness cease with the fulfilling of the types and shadows.
When God reveals himself in any way, and has that revelation recorded within the scriptures, is the revelation only to the individual involved? or is the purpose of the record to continue that revelation to whosoever readeth?
What types and shadows are revealed in the New Testament? or are they all found within the Old Testament, and fulfilled in the New?
If a type or shadow hasn't been fulfilled, how would we know that it was a type or shadow?
If a type or shadow hasn't been fulfilled, how would we know that it was a type or shadow?
I'm not up to speed with you Snooky. The types and shadows that I'm familiar with all point to Christ. I'm thinking that there may be some . . .such as Eden ? that may be pointing to heaven and possibly some that point to Christs second coming.
Would appreciate some examples of those that hav'nt been fulfilled.

My wording left something to be desired here. The point I had in mind was the same as you expressed, We only know a type or shadow because it is fulfilled or revealed. The thing I am seeing is we tend to aknowledge the type and shadow, then throw away the truth that it brought to our knowledge. If they are intended to bring us to New Testament truth, or to Christ, How can we dismiss them as not revelent to us in the New Testament. We no longer need the type or shadow, but we need the truth that is showed inthe limited measure. The truth carries on to the true that created the shadow. To say that something was under the Law, usually implies that it was a shadow. To say that we aren't under the shadow, means we are now under the clearer, stricter, restraints of the thing, or person that the shadow foretold.
I hope that clears up my intentions.
I agree Bro. The Old testament is the revelation of God and of Christ. It is the mind of God as He is revealing Himself and His plan . The New testifies and verifies the fullness and fulfillment and is verified itself by the prophets of old as well as the Father Himself. The lessons learned in the OT remain in the present Nt age. IMO

It's to much to C&P here. But, please read Chapters 7-10 it was clear to me that our High Priest is Christ. And thatthe OldCovenate has expired.
This ispartially true, Christ is become our high priest, but the righteousness of thelaw has not expired, andit doesn't answer the question, What do we do with the types and shadows that brought this truth to light? Do we remove it from the scriptures? Or do we apply the lessons that they taught us? Did they not show us in advance the workings of God and his plan for the New Testament? What do we do with this truth? The law brought the knowledge of sin-Do we now disregard that knowledge? The law testified of Christ-Do we know through that testamony away? It showed us things to come-do we pretend that they haven't happened, or will not come to pass as some are still prophetic and in the future? Are we looking for Gods truths that the Old Testament contained? Or are we setting forth to discredit and make the word of God contained there of none effect?
What is the purpose of fighting against the truth.
I asked before, and ask again, What sin found in the Old Testament, is not found to be sin still in the New Testament?
1.Thou shalt have no other Gods before me. Still in effect?
2.Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven, ect. ect. Still in effect?
3.Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. Still in effect?
4.Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Jesus is our sabbath, is this not true? This is the rest and the refreshing spoken by Joel. Isn't this true? I am the Lord that giveth thee rest. True? There fore there remaineth a rest. Isn't the sabbath made for man, and not man for the sabbath? Isn't these things in effect today?
5.Honor thy Father and thy Mother. Still ineffect?
6.Thou shalt not kill. Any question about it being in effect?
7. Thou shalt not commit adultry. Isn't it even more strict today?
8.Thou shalt not steal. Still in effect.
9.Thou shalt not bear fale witness against thy neighbor. Never changed.
10.Thou shalt not covet. Still in effect, every single one!
These are all contained in the New, Royal Law of Jesus.
First, Love the Lord Thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy strength.
The second command, Love thy neighbor as thyself. On the two new Testament commandments, hang all the law of Moses found in the Old Testament. God has not gotten soft on sin in his old age, God forbid. Sin is now exceeding sinful and still hated by God as much as ever. The new covenant provides us the means to keep the law by putting it in our hearts. We have the lawgiver and his Holy Spirit abiding within. Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
