Israel was in Egyptian bondage when is generally regarded as a type of the sinful bondage of the adversary of our souls, or sin. Desiring deliverance, Israel cried unto the Lord. At what point in time were they safe from Pharoah and free from Egypt?
These were types and shadows of things to come. As Peter said, "salvation, ready to be revealed in the last days".
We saw a people who believed, selected a Lamb, killed the Lamb, applied the blood of the Lamb, ate the roast Lamb, ate the unleavened bread, the bitter herbs, left in haste, crossed the Red Sea, ect. When were they saved from Egypt??

Probably not the answer your looking for but I believe they were saved from the point the Lord told Moses that he was going to deliver them. Of course the language was in the future tense, so technically they were delivered from the Egyptians when they crossed the Red Sea and the Lord destroyed Pharoahs army. But even then they were'nt steadfast in the Lord and were wanting to go back to what they knew with Pharoah, so in a sense they were still in bondage yet. So it could be that when the remaining purposed to trust God that they broke out of their bondage. Good question.

Your right Bro Mac. I hadn't thought about it before, but isn't that like John 3:16? Should not perish, but yet not all will be saved?
As sure as there was a mixed multitude that left Egypt, doesn't it stand to reason that some didn't follow Moses and perished in Egypt with the Egyptians? At what point were they saved from Egypt, or became destined to become part of those that were destroyed?
Matthew 26:2 "You know that after two days is the Passover, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified."
It was not untill after the first born of the Egyptians died that Pharoah let the Jews go. But it was the blood of the Lamb that saved the Jews from death. The Jews were saved by the blood. Likewise we are saved by the blood of our passover Lamb, Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV) Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast--as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed
dabow; It is true that no one was ever saved without the shedding of the blood, or the death of the Lamb. Was that the one and only thing that deleivered them from Egypt? What if they had not applied the blood to the door? What if the stopped and never roast the Lamb?, never ate it as instructed?, Never girded themselves?, put on their sandels?, took up their staff?, never physically started on a journey toward the Sea?, Would they have excaped the bondage that they were under?

The shedding of the Lamb's Blood was instituted even by God in Eden, the Abel sacrificed to YHVV and He accepted the offering.

Not of little importance is the fact that the Egyptians worshipped both sheep and goats (Aries, etc) and the Jews were joining in the idol worship. I believe this was relevant in why God commanded them to slaughter the sheep or goats as a way of purging the idols from themselves. Note also that Exodus 12:13 that the blood on the door frames was a sign to the Jews. Even though the Lord certainly knew where each Jew lived, he did say he would passover when he saw the blood. So, yes it wouldseem that the blood had to be applied for God to passover
Ezekiel ch. 20 7Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
8But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
Exodus ch. 125Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exodus ch. 12 13And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Note also that Exodus 12:13 that the blood on the door frames was a sign to the Jews.
dabow, I didn't find that written in my bible. Where did it say that it was a sign only to the Jews, and not to who so ever would hear and obey?
The plagues were upon the main gods of Egypt.
1. Blood, the Nile = source of life became death.
2. frogs, Isis the goddess of fertility= became heaps of dead flesh.
3. lice, came out of the earth which was worshiped.
4. flies, Beelzebub/ekron= prince of the air, present at every sacrifice.
5. blight, disease of cattle=Apis the bull
6 boils, seen as punishment for sin.
7 hail, Shalmans claimed power over the weather, Moses gave advance warning to prove the lack of power in the Shalmans.
8. locust, proved all the gods of Egypt as powerless.
9. darkness, Amun-Re, the Sun God was the supreme diety of Egypt, so God took all light away.
10. firstborn=the future of Egypt taken.
A sinful idol sheep wasn't a type or shadow of the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world. Jesus being the body that cast the shadow, was not just to take away the sins of the Jews, but of all the world. These things were a working model of the true tabernacle that God pitched, and not man. We need to remain consistant in our interpretations.
8But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
"In the midst of the land of Egypt" did this happen after the Exodus?, or while they remained in Egypt?
Exodus ch. 125Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Sheep reproduce as lambs, goats reproduce as kids. They were not allowed tochoose one or the other, but to seperate the lamb from the flock it traveled with.
