Default Thoughts on Cremation

My wife and I are going to have a will made out soon and I started thinking about what I want done with my body after I'm gone.

Cremation seems like a logical and cost effective choice but it also seems to be a pagan ritual too so I'm kinda leary of it.

What are your thoughts on it? Any scripture that advises us on what should be done?

Thanks

Now that was funny Mr. Fife. Death is not usually funny, but since we are all going to experience it, we can't be too serious about it.

But people's bodies experience death in many different ways. Even those who are embalmed deteriorate in time.

I probably have this garbled but isn't there a passage in Revelations that goes something like " and the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised, raised incorruptible." Am I off base or is there something like that?

I don't know about you but I have no reason to believe that I'm going to rise again on the third day.

daddy'slittlegirl, You may be thinking of these verses-

"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory." 1 Corin.15:52-54 KJV.

I know of no scripture that says it's alright or not alright to be cremated..but as for me, i will be buried 6 foot under..that's my personal preference..

My plans are to be cremated, simply for convenience's sake. It's less expensive, no tombstone to buy, no gravesite for someone to have to take care of from now on. When the pea is shelled out, I'm not worried about the hull. If anyone cares to remember me, I don't want it to be at a cemetery. Maybe have my ashes spread on a garden spot ,orfertilize a food plot in one of my hunting spots--maybe I'll wind up being good for something sooner or later.[8D]

I personally don't like the idea of cremation, but have never heard anything that would indicate it would be sinful.

But according to some, if we are cremated, we are "adding" to the scriptures. Some would want us to believe we talk it all straight forward, thus we all need to go get our own tomb...LOL. Sounds silly, yet this type of argument has been used with other topics like worship music. But, wait, that approach can only be used when one doesn't have a truth directly from the bible.

I will be shown one day and then cremation. That is my plan at the moment.I take care of about 7 graves now and I seem to be the only one. I see husbands and wives but that is about it. Kind of sad really. I think the next generation will be even lazier. And my guess is, if the world lasts long enough someone will just bulldoze them up anyway.
