Why does it feel like everyone is so arguementative all the time lately? I know I have contributed to much as far as topics go but part of that is I don't want to debate. I don't want to see more argueing and hashing of the scripture than I do of what God has done and is doing for us. And just pure unadulterated Glory for HIM.

I would like to see some more of Leaf's Post and Motors, as they are great at keeping things on topic and on God without all the bickering and I think some part of that is their experience in dealing with these things and they have earned respest. But that is just my opinion. I have seen so many leave this site who I think made a great contribution and it saddens me.

I miss the posts that Texas Oaks used to put up. Doesn't anyone else?

I guess this is why I haven't been on here much, because for me the atmoshpere is quite depressing.

Please say a prayer for me and others who are feeling discouraged right now. Thanks

Katrina

A right spirit is always in order, and If you have found my posts offensive, I apoligize for my lack of sensitivity to others. Tack is not, nor ever has been my strong suit.
Part of the problem IMO centers around the fact that there is such a diverse group of beliefs and various stages of christian life found on this site. Everything from new babes in Christ, to grizzled old veterans ofcountless spiritual battles. From babes needing milk to those who prefer the tough old steaks that you have to chew, to get the nurishment and real flavor out of it.
It is hard to get an old professor excited about Dick and Jane. See Spot. See Spot run. ect. is great for the youngsters, but not for the old andaged.
The great thing about this site is you can pick and choose what you like. If you want to discuss something different, there is always someone who likes that subject and will converse with you about it. If you like it hot and spicy, its here, if you like it bland and mushy, it is here also. Approach it as if it was a watermelon, eat the flesh, spit out the seeds, and throw away the rind.

That is what I havebeen doing and in using your analogy I am starving.
I seemed to have gotten a very seedy watermelon.

You have never personally offended meso you have nothing to apologize for. I just wish there was a little more thoughfulness for others. And a littlemore thought fornewpeople coming on. How are others viewing what I have to say is the biggest question I have been answering. Am I viewed as a hypocryte because I say to do one thing and I do something completely different? Am I being honest with myself and others? Have I taken the time to try understand what others are saying? Am I being judgemental? I hope that theseChristian characteristics are what I am showing others. Sometimes I don't know.

What are the rest of you here for? I am just curious.

As you all have probably guessed I am one who likes my steak tender, and not because I don't understand the more complicated things but rather because I have a compassionate nature. I like to surround myself with others that have this in comon for a few reasons, but mostly because I am a little more sensitive to the harsher natures. I guess I could say it's a trust thing, dealing with my background.

You make some very good points, especally concerning our varied backgrounds. We are all individuals and have different needs, desires, taste. ect.

I usually don't spend much time in this forum. I've checked in a little more lately because this latest flareup was called to my attention. It's sort of like a wreck on the road. You don't want to look, but you can't help yourself.

I don't understand the emphasis on arguments either. I also fail to understand why some feel constrained to attack other poster's beliefs even though that person has not sought a debate on an issue. But there are lots of things I don't understand, and at my age, I have learned not to be too disturbed by that.

I think the most unfortunate result of the general aura of conflict emanating from this forum is the loss of opportunity to allow others to be exposed to knowledge or our Lord's sacrifice for us. I say that because, although I have no data,I am firmly convinced that some people come here and are turned off by the atmosphere.

I have probably mentioned that before and gotten nowhere with it. Oh well.....

Exactly, and we should be willing to make room for those with different needs, desires, tastes, etcetera.

My 1st lap aroung the HNI religion pool was much the same
as you describe. I was more than a little shocked to read
some of the comments and replies from one member to another.
What I learned with the help of several hereis just what
Snooky typed. There'smuchconviction by many members,
old and new, to express thier understanding/belief. It can
be more than an excercise, more like a call of duty as given
in scripture. At this point, I'm a "taker" here, reading and
trying to come to grips with some of the stuff being offered.
It's a maze, an obstable course and a HUGE BLESSING all at
the same time.

Here's what I try to do: Take each thread for what it's worth
based on my past experience with the author, the manner it's
expressed and relevance to spiritual life. Then, I will usually
only put any real time or effort into the 1st few posts, no more
than the 1st page (10 posts on my browser). That's it. I find
that when a thread gets past a few posts the content is either
repetative, confrontational/combative or quitelikelygone to
a level completely out of my sphere of comprehension. There are
of course exceptions, most notably "chain" type threads that offer
continued praise, worship or prayer. I'm sure I've missed some
great points and good information along the way but I just do
not have the time nor the inclinationto dig through it all and you're
right, it can get down right depressing if that's not what you're
here for.

Take and use from here what you need. There is noreason to
let the rest weigh you down.

God bless,
PK

You are correct maam. I apologize if I have offended, and I pray the Lord to give me a right spirit, speaking only words of edification. For out of the mouth poureth the overflow of the heart...

Thank You and God Bless

I read the posts that interest me and post whenI think I can add something to the discussion. I also help moderate this forum as needed and my time allows. I've noticed the combative atmosphere around here lately and have edited and/or removed some of the posts. I've also PM'd a few people about changing how they post to conform with HNI rules.

This forum is supposed to be a place where believers and people with questions can ask those questions, get answers and discuss religious issues civilly and respectfully. Lately, a few members have posted attacks against particular churches and attacked/insulted other members. That is not what this forum is for.

Each of us is going to likely have some preference for a particular denomination or church and it's healthy to give positive reasons and personal experiences for why we feel that way. Other members can at least learn of our respective experiences and then decide if that is something they would like to pursue further on their own.
