What is the distinctive plea of the church of Christ?
What is the distinctive plea of the church of Christ?
It is primarily a plea for religious unity based upon the Bible. In a divided religious world it is believed that the Bible is the only possible common denominator upon which most, if not all, of the God-fearing people of the land can unite. This is an appeal to go back to the Bible. It is a plea to speak where the Bible speak and to remain silent where the Bible is silent in all matters that pertain to religion. It further emphasizes that in everything religious there must be a "Thus saith the Lord" for all that is done. The objective is religious unity of all believers in Christ. The basis is the New Testament. The method is the restoration of New Testament Christianity.

TF With this I must agree. Acts 2:42-47 As long as they continued in the Apostles Doctrine, there was fellowship, breaking of bread, prayers, wonders, signs, in one accord, gladness and singleness of heart.
The Bible is truly the Book of Gods doctrines, (Gods teachings), yet doctrine is blamed today for all the division among the churches. It is the man-made doctrine, and not Gods doctrine that divides.
RE: What is the distinctive plea of the church of Christ?
And returning to the Bible is what we all must do, not according to what one denomination says is right, but what God says is right in His Bible. God uses all denominations for His glory, even the ones who think they are the only true believers.
The distinctive plea of the church of christ is not all bibical. For example, Jesus never said to ride a donkey or walk only. Yet he used various means of travel to and from his places of teaching and worship. Jesus and the disciples sang songs probably without an instrument simply because back then, instruments were not readly avaiable in all homes or in stores like today. However, that doesn't mean they didn't use them. If Christ didn't want instruments in worship, HE WOULD HAVE SAID SO!!!!
Furthermore, He refers to Psalms of praises using the lyer and string instruments for praise to His Father. The church of christ would have you believe that instruments are wrong, yet there is no bibical proof what so ever that Christ said NO to used them.
So, listen to God and allow Him and Only Him to lead you to your place of worship.

Quote:
But I can't be taught anything if I already know it all.
Do you need it all if you belong to a Spirit guided church. Some like my self fall short of the expected norm,by some people at least. You know the end all to know all people.. The people given the gift to figure out who fits God's formula for salvation.
