Default in a rut

Do any of you ever get in rut where you tend to be more sinful then normal. Right now I am really stuggling with something that causes me guilt and sadness.

Here is something that I learned. Around the time of month that most of your bills are due is the most stressful and that can sometimes suck me in so now that I know I need a little extra around then my streaks have been fewer and further between.

Yes, we all know how you feel. It should not make us feel better to know that their are others in the same boat. We all should askGod to forgive us thru Jesusand stop doing it. But, thats hard to do without Jesus's help. We both need to stop doing what hurts us and Jesus. Its good we can confess to each other. You have a good heart, I will Pray for you as well as myself.

This may sound crazy BUT I've noticed I am much more focused on my relationship with God when I listen to a Christian rock radio station. The music has a good beat and the words remind me of how much that relationship means. I also find I'm a lot calmer, don't angry so easily and generally am able to deal with life's pressures much better.

Fred, What has helped me to stay out of a rut is sickness. Sickness to yourself or another family member has a way of getting our attnetion and our best efforts.

I once heard an evangelist say ."God will conform us to be like Christ , even if it kills us."

Why not try to fill your life with constructive activities? Between my schoolwork, taking care of Miriam, doing household chores, some outside reading, I don't really have time to sin. The same for my husband. He has the same activities that I have and shares it all with me, except nursing Miriam, of course . Sometimes we just sit and talk and listen to music. (Believe it or not, married couples have a lot to talk about.) We go out, usually a couple times a week. We take Miriam along. For some reason she seems to get hungry right about the time the food arrives so my husband cuts up my food and helps me eat. We get a lot of giggles out of that.

Okay I've gone on and on about how we fill up our lives, but you can do things that are enjoyable and constructive for yourself. There are sports activities, working out at a gym, reading, classes. There must be activities and groups at your church in which you can become involved. I think you hunt so get out in the woods in the off season and do some scouting. We have had to suspend hunting because of Miriam, but we still take her out in the woods scouting to keep up with where the critters are hanging out.

One caveat, however. If your church frowns on drinking, you're not going to get away with meeting girls and making friends in a church group and hanging out at the bar too. I think you'll have to make some kind of choice as to what kind of life you want to lead.

Fred, what is normal sinning? Be glad that Holy Spirit is making you feel miserable, I would worry if you were sinning and not feeling guilt. Be glad you're a child of God, those lost have no bad feelings about sin.
