Any one else find the bible hard to read? You read some of those verses you say to yourself is this in english?

There are bibles printed with commentary to explain the language as it was used back then. Words from back then sometimes do have different meanings and getting the wrong context for a single word in a sentence can make it difficult to understand sometimes. Another possibility is to attend church and listen to some of the sermons. Most pastors will explain some of the scripture during their sermons so that people can better understand it.

Hey Fred,
I beleive the Bible should be enjoyed..My first time I read the Word I din't have a clue what it was saying..WE have 2 things going on here..

1. The Word is Spirit and is easier understood when you are Born Again..
I believe you are alredy BOrn Again..was not meant as a slur.
2. After I was Born Again..I still found it a little difficult as you .I then purchased me a more modern version..THe Living Bible..The more newer version did not hinder my walk,,it actually enriched it..
I will send you an online sight that has over 20 different versions..also as Cal. brought up..there are commentarys that go over every verse..
Example..Just type in Commentary on John..and every verse will be explained..You could actually read 3 or 4 different ones and compare..

Deerhunter, I was the exact same way. I bought two seperate bibles and could not understand them(to many art thou bretherens)so I quit reading them. Then a freind told me to buy a Student Bible. By far the best thing I ever did. Its written in plain english and has footnotes that explain everything you would have a question about. I recommend a Student Bible to anyone who asks this question.

I'll second some of those comments. The Bible we have has little notes to explain some of the moredifficult words and phrases.
