My dear friends..I'll be posting and responding on a life changing topic that God has been blessing me with the past few weeks. {So bear wiht me}To be a pastor or Christian you can kiss your salvation or ministry good bye if you are one who is given to gossip, course jesting , and coveteousness,

Scripture..James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

First lesson...no diet has worked for me,,I'm killing myself with the spirit of gluttony..and then GOd brought to me a word of wisdom/knowledge.
Lesson 1For times sake I won't post verses but I wil paraphrase they are both ion James 3.

Let's call Gluttony a demon..I mean does it fits in faith or sin..It belongs in sin..1 John says sin is of the devil..OK James 3 says Satan sets the world on fire BY OUR TONGUES..So, if ya want Satan to leave..stop talking about asin, perversness etc.I made a deal with my family ."If you see me eatting between breakfast and dinner OR EVEN TALKING ABOUT food..I'll give ya 20.00 on the spot. WOW!!! It works..the speaking about foodwas driving me to sin..I've alsocarried that over with gossip and course joking..Folks, my confidence and faith has doubled and hionestly the pounds are dropping daily and my 2 meals are very satisfying.

Lesson 2...I see much preaching about blessing and cursing with the power of the tongue..Yes, I've laid my hands many times on my wife..She is no better..I just don't take any preachers word..James 1 says GOd is no respector of persons and I can ask Him myself for wisdom...I did this morning and here is what I got..Remember how many times I I've said thatI go periods of time on silence..TRust me ..it's even better than fasting."Thou wilt keep thee in perfect peace whose mind is stayed in thee becasue he trusteth in me." Isaiah..

anyway..back to my wife..staright off the throne.of my heart." "Remember..Jesus saying" I speak nothing except whatI hear fom the Father." ..don't lay hands suddenly on no man unless instructed by Christ. The instruction comes from the prayer closet..Then after you are instructed and only if you are instructed do you speak what you have recieved from Jesus..1 Thess. 5 says to"Pray without ceasing..therefore in all reality Christians should really be a walking prayer closet...and then don't speak unless it's of God/

I looked at the qualifications of a pastor in the Word..most can be achieved by simply yielding your tongue to GOd..

Change the heart, and the tongue will follow . You can't blame the gun when a person is killed, thus you can't blame the tongue when those foul things proceed from the heart.

I am not particularly a tongue proponent, even though we should legislate tongue control.

Thanks for replying...in my own life I've seen my sincere efforts not enough..I think to often we compare ourselves with other believers and this is not good. Christ Jesus was our prime example on walking this walk correctly.
Hollywood is no doubt a tool of Satan..The TV arms us with lots of funny come backs..I've heard complete sermons on nothing but TV shows. Much of television is comedy..with sexual overtones .This my friend is what we are being fed in America..and it's bound to come out in our lives. I've got a whole bunch of funnies in my head..Ephesians 5 says "Don't let fooling jesting be once named among you as becometh saints."

Backbiting and gossip..wher eI work at you can bet..if 2 teachers are chatting they are complaining and gossiping..I use to stop and listen adn get involved myself..I mean after all isn't ok to let off a little steam? not really..."Giving no offence to the gospel." As Motor said the other day..to let Christ be glorified through the tough times as well.

"Coveteousness which is idolatry" food, better stuff etc.etc. ..coveteousness/ lust is a demon.It's so well accepted we will never see it that way..The Word says "Rather giving thanks."Heb.13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.


With my desire set on pastoring these are issues God has put on my heart..the peace and joy is such that I wantedto pass them on to my fellow beleivers. I mean it would be awful for someone's religion to be in vain as spoken of in James 1.

Now back to your statement..I agree Rev..however; I've spent much time in GOD's Word and prayer and still came out with an unbridled tongue.WHY?? I never saw the seriousness of it..
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

another version..It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.[b]
