Default The Old Testament In The New

Just for fun . . .Each of these passages from the New Testament is a quotation from the Old Testament. Name the Old Testament book (and, if your sharp, chapter and verse) where the passage appears.

1. "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel" (Mathew 1:23)

2. "Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight". (Mathew 3:3)

3. "The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up." (Mathew 4:16)

4. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (Mathew 4:4)

5. "Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God" (Mathew 4:7)

6. "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." (Mathew 4:10)

7. "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" (Mathew 5:38)

8. "Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy" (Mathew 5:43)

9. "Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses." (Mathew 8:17)

10. "I will have mercy, and not sacrifice:" (Mathew 9:13)

15. "And in His name shall the Gentiles trust" (Mathew 12:21)

16. "By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:" (Mathew 13:14)

17. "For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed;" (Mat 13:15)

Good Grief Charlie Brown, I have to work in the morning. I'm off to Atlanta in the morning, and I would try to answer those. But I have to pack.
Take care all
God Bless
