I was tempted to put this one in dkhammers "Interpretation" thread, but figured it may distract.
I was wondering what folk would do with these few Scriptures.
Mat 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
Mat 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
Mat 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
Here Jesus is saying to do what the Scribes and Pharisees say to do. If one looks into what they were saying to do one will find that they were adding unto the Law. Another Scripture:
Mat 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Do these Scripture seem conflicting to anyone? Why would they be told to do what the Pharisees and Scribes tell them to do when they add unto the Law. Why would they be told to obey the Pharisees and Scribes if they shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men?
Oh . . .as an example of the Scribes and Pharisees adding unto the Law, I add these Scriptures:
Mat 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
Mat 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
See, it appears that the washing of hands in this way was not a part of the Law . . .it was something the Scribes "added to" . . .and yet . . .we are told to do as they say.

Another thing that is hard for me to understand is when someone posts a bible verse from one bookto show that the bible teaches what they have been taught and their beliefs, but another bible verse from a different book in the same bible will be posted andwill be phrased to mean the opposite from the first!
For every bible verse posted there is another bible verse posted that is phrased to let you believe different!
My reply to dkhamner's thread " Interretations "
