Default hope for the future

well got a big surprise the other day, my Grandson who has really not shown that much intrest in the outdoors ((hunting))[&o][&o] (besides fishin) tells me he has sold most of his "gaming junk" and wants a bow, he picked out a decent youth bow but a friend of mine suggested we go ahead with a "young man bow". so we used what money he had and added a little from Meemaw and me and we got bought him a AR31 25-30" @ 55# and i could not be more pleased, for what little shooting time he has, and for his age/size 13, 5'6" 160# i was really surprised to see and have him shooting as well as he was, we still have a lot of work to do, like a shorter release (he is using one of my older ones for now) and his form, but i'll say i am well pleased. here are a few shots from the other day,

Congrats! Maybe there is hope yet! lol

I'm lucky--my son started shooting a bow with me when he was 2 (he's 12 now). He shoots a recurve--hasn't killed anything yet, but he has won and placed in a lot of tournaments (his accuracy is good, it's his patience that needs work). He also loves to hunt (squirrells being his #1 quarry right now--probably because he gets to shoot and move around more), and I've never seen a kid that likes to fish as much as he does. We're getting him to riding horses now, which he also loves. I'm really thankful to live out in the country where it's not a hassle to expose him to the outdoors.

That's great m.t.! We can always use more bowhunters to help swell our ranks. Work with him on the things he needs to improve and you'll have another hunting partner soon. Oh . . . and tell him to watch for traffic before each shot!

That'a wonderful Keith,
Hunting and fishing have so many blessings tied into it...Your grandson is very fortunate to have you as his grandfather.

PS

thanks for the vote of confidence Reb and everyone else, yea i hope i am making an impression on all aspects of his life and sometimes he even brings me into check[:@][:-], Chad he loves to fish more than any kid (including myself) than i have ever known, he really enjoys shooting, pretty much anything, its the cold and getting up early that he is unsure of, his mom and dad let him "sleep in" which is something i have never been accustomed too, but the more time he spends with me the more i think he realizes that we can get enough clothes for him to stay warm and some of his best sleep will come in the the stand[:-](i hope I'm not setting a bad example[:-][&o][&o][:@])

Dave could not agree more, when it comes to deer hunting, there is nothing that will compare to an archery hunt/harvest

Buck master, i agree completely, he calls me all the time wanting to dig for info, and to see when we are going

Chuck the pleasure was all mine, as we spoke about last night we are so blessed, beyond measure or understanding

I have 3 boys. 2 are into the outdoors wit me, and one has yet to 'see the light'. I need to get him off of the video games and outside as well. Any suggestions?
