Recently I have begun working on a lifelong dream of mine. It is to open a GYM/ Community fitness center, with a christian based philosphey. Well GOD answered my prayers this month. I recently found a large building, 65 x 125, 3 floors, which used to be the slovak hall in my area. I aquired the building and began my search for equipment. Well I found the equipment and then some. I was able to buy the equipment from 3 different gyms in my general area. My plans are to make it a public GYM that WILL be accessible to anyone no matter if they can afford it or not. It will be open 24 hours a day for adults and 7 hours a day for the youth and on weekends it will be open for 12 hrs for youths. My area is kind of depressed and the kids seem to find their way into drugs. And as a police officer in that area I see it first hand. So I am giving opporitunities to kids to come work out/ box and be around possitve people and also to see that it is not only ok but very cool to have a relationship with god. So I ask that everyone please pray that I can make enough at it to keep this open for years to come. And that GODS love be found by all who enter my Gym. Thanks for your time.

It was hemmingway. Don't read into it much. As i said before I am a police officer and that is a great reason i got into police work. to take the most violent people off of the street.

Nightmare, I must say that you are undertakinganextremely noble and just cause. I am sure God will bless it. One thing that I heard a whil back from Larry Burkett, before he passed away lastyear, was that you have to decide if it is going to be a ministry or a business. If it is going to be solely a ministry, then it has to be treated as such, and if it is for profit, then it has to be run like a business. I don't think that this , in any way, excludes your vision at all,but you need to keep in mind that if you can't make sufficient income it will b eneither. I would ask the Lord to help you figure a way to be able to incorporate different memberships that make room for those you are targeting to get off of the streets, andyet make an emphasis onthose that you know can pay to receive the services that you provide. It seems that you need to really emphasize the business aspect, being as professional as possible, so that you can incorporate the minstry side.Too bad you aren't close to Atlanta, I would love to be able to asist you. I love working out and ministering to people. I know God will give you the wisdom and the resources necesarry to be a success in both areas. Pleas eforgive me if I am overstepping my bounds here,I just wanted to relay to you some good advice that I have learned to live by.
I know one thing for sure, if God ordained it, He will bring it to pass. I will sure pray for you brother, sounds like God has put this burden in your heart.
It would be a really good thing. Our prayers are with you in this venture. If you are really non-profit, you may be able to get help with contributions from people/businesses who don't use the gym but want to help your cause.

Have you considered asking local churches to help sponsor or underwrite this great idea? They might like the fact that they can help operate an outreach program and have a place for their members to workout and fellowship. If you only got 5 or 6 churches to underwrite the montly expenses together, you would have a much higher chance of success and would also have a good pool of positive people to draw from to work out in the gym and be examples to the kids you want to reach. Just a thought for you to consider.
