Default Question about the Trinity

Ok, I have been taught that the Father, Son and Spirt are three in one and have seen several scriptures that can lead in that direction. The explination I drew for me to understand was the following:

I am a husband to my wife. But I am also a brother to my brother. But I am also a son to my father and mother. Yet I am the same person, just different to all there people.

Ok, I was reading the scriptures today and read this one which hit me like a ton of bricks.

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my words: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.
25 These things have I spoken unto you, while yet abiding with you.
26 But the Comforter, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you.
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.

Ok, now I am not sure. Any help!!! I know you guys have debated the trinity before and I have read some of it, but help me with this one please and thanks for the replys.

This has been a very controversial subject in the past. Considering recent attitudes, this is not the time I would pick to broach this subject . . . .but I did'nt pick the subject or the time so I will reply . . .at least with a few questions for now.
Your a trinitarian?
If so what kind . . .I mean do you feel that God is three equal parts? Do you believe that there is a big God and then a little god and then an even lesser god still ?

Do you see That Jesus was every bit God, and every bit man? Do you see Scripture that bears this out?

Ok, I have been taught that the Father, Son and Spirt are three in one and have seen several scriptures that can lead in that direction.

When you were taught the three in one teaching, there was a mixing of creator, and created, Spirit which hath not flesh and blood, and human body which consisted of flesh and blood. There was the eternal, and that which was made under the law, and was begotten. When we mix all these together, what do we get? Do we still have three, or do we have one? If there remains three, which is the Creator? The bible says in one place, the Father created us all. In another scripture, it says Jesus created all things. Which one of the distince persons is the Savior? One place says God, another says the Son.
Is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, persons, or positions and offices relative to Gods dealing with men?

for the Father is greater than I.

The Creator is called The Father in the doctrine of the Triune God as I understand it. Jesus, the begotten Son, made of a woman, made under the law, is called the Son. Eternal is always greater that begotten. Creator is always greater than the created. Jesus was the only God-man. God, the eternal, was in Christ, the begotten, reconciling the world unto himself.

So I can't add to this, and have no real answers (I mean I know what I've been taught, but don't really know if I can even put that in to words)

The subject has been fresh in my mind again since I read John 3 where Christ said the Father won't judge, but that Jesus will. Got me raising my eyebrows again.

What does the 100% God and 100% Man (talking about Christ here) get labeled as in these discussions?

What does the "Christ was the lil God, Father was the big God" get labeled? And where does the Holy Spirit fit in here?

Oh, I can help some...maybe. You'll have to do some foot-work to find it, but I read something that Augustine wrote several years ago at a different college. Just a couple paragraphs in a big book that gave a great analogy of the nature of the trinity, wish I could remember exactly how it went or what book it was. Still may be possible to find it online if you know it exists somewhere though.

Default RE: Question about the Trinity

In Gen 1:24,"God said, let US make man in Our image, after Our likenesss"---who is us or our??
Throughout history, there have been several explanations. Some have suggested that God was addressing the angels, but this is unlikely because in verse 26 it reads: "Let us make man in our own image" while in verse 27 we read: "And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him," not in the image of angels.
Still others have concluded that "us" and "our" refer to the Trinity. Certainly John 1:1. tells us that Jesus, as the Word, was in the beginning and was involved in the creation process, and Genesis 1:2 reminds us that the Holy Spirit also took part in the creation of the world.
there are many verses that foreshadow the Trinity in the Old Testament (Psalm 110:1; Isaiah 63:7, 9 & 10; Proverbs 30:4), and those which clearly teach the Trinity in the New Testament, (for example: Matthew 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2).

Jesus said it was expedient that he should go away, so his father would send another comforter, the Holy Ghost.

As for the three in one. There is only oneWILL between the three.

The will of God is

The same will as the Son

The same will as the Holy Ghost

They will not contradict each other, they will agree.
If you do as the spirit leads, then you have done the Son's Will, then also God's Will.

Boy are some of us going to be surprised in heaven!!!! We are going to see how silly and stupid we all were. This is a mystery theologians have fought for years.
Denominations have spawned from the way they decipher the trinity. Some denominations have gone way out on the limb on this one.
It's like sayingsomeone canexplain what John saw inthe book of Revelations... it's not the appointed time yet.

I can agree with the trinity, and then I can agree with the oneness theory! Sound dumb, but that's how I see it. All Three in One person.

Devarim Chapter 6 (Deuteronomy)

Now this is the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances, which the Lord your G-d commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it--
2 that thou mightest fearthe Lordthy G-d, to keep all His statutes and His commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as HaShem, the G-d of thy fathers, hath promised unto thee--a land flowing with milk and honey.
4 HEAR, O ISRAEL: THE LordOUR GOD, THELord IS ONE.
5 And thou shalt love The Lord thy G-d with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.( I don't see it says to love 3 gods)
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart;
