Default So, anyone know their theological authors?

I'm trying to scrounge up a small library (mostly of rented/loaned books).

But while I don't want to only read stuff that points to what I already agree with, I don't know if there are any, that at one time were popular, but are now "black listed" across the board?

Names like:
Locke
Grudem
Berkohf
Watson
Edwards (think that one's pretty safe)
Hodge
Strong
Murray

Of those names, my school's library only has Locke Berkohf and Edwards. I know these names are Google-able but what I'm finding isn't helping.

Any hints on how to read a particular author? (Perspective, background, etc.)

Soil...I had most of them while in college..I gave them all away ...I only kept my concordance and Bible dictionary. All my commentaries I gave a way..I read them in college but was not that impressed. I do like to do word and cultural studies..I loved church history as well. When I was in college the big push was evangelism...We had to witness and talk about our expereinces the next day in class. Missions was a biggy. Many of our professors were retired missonaries that loved God.
