Default Mighty nice people on here.

Hello all, first time I have been here in a while, its been rather busy with everything going on especially with Shirley, heres the latest on her and her transplant,

She did real good since about April, then about 4 weeks ago her platelet count stated falling, we monitored it for a week or so and it got so low she had to go back into the hospital , St Louis University, about 225 miles from home, that makes it hard. Anyway her Bilirubin rose to almost 15, she had a bile duct plugged again so they put a stint in it again, They gave here 8 units of platelets over a period of about 4 days and it did'nt help hardly at all in bringing her platlet count up, matter of fact it got to about 6000 at one time, They have figured out that her immune system has developed antibodies that is killing her platelets off, so they are treating it with high doses of prednisone and that has raised to blood-sugar to almost 600 at times, she has never had a sugar problem before and the Drs are pretty sure that the prednisone is causing it to be so high, she has been on it a little over a week now and she had blood work done yesterday here at the local hospital and her platelet count is just 7000 so I don't think the steriods are doing much good, I don't know whats next, maybe a bone marrow test but the drs are pretty sure it is making platlets, Keep us in your prayers, and thanks for all the kind words.
This last week in the hospital makes right close to 100 days she has spent there since her tranplant on Aug 22, 2006

Chuck a special thanks to you, I'm glad we met, thanks for being a freind, I have learned much from you, God bless you all.

Strut, glad to meet you. I've only been around this site for a short time.

You are right, there are some mighty nice people on this site. I appreciate every one of them. I think some of them might like to wring my neck right now for disagreeing with their views, but I appreciate each one.

I am so sorry that your wife has these health problems. I don't know how long you've been together, but you are going through a trial that I'm not sure I can comprehend. I've been married for 35 years and my wife is my right hand. I do know that I'd rather suffer myself than see her endure it. We don't get a choice in such matters though.I will put you folks on my prayer list...for her health and for you as you faithfully support her. May God bless you both.

Strut, good to see you post. You and Miss Shirley were on my mind just the other day. I'm sorry that the struggle continues.Even tho I lost my first daughter, I can only come close to relating thru my 2nd daughter having leukimia. I know that those 5 yrs were very hard but there were also many gems gathered along the way. In the end she was healed . .I praise God and give Him the glory for His choices with both my girls. I am having faith that the Lord answers your prayers and blesses you and Sis Shirley beyond your highest hopes in Jesus name.

Great to see you posting Randy! I know I don't check in with you nearly enough, but you and Shirley are in our thoughts and prayers. Hang in there--everything will work out as it's meant to. Give me a holler if there's anything I can do.
