I've been thinking lately.Pretend you aresomeone who has been, maybe, somewhat interested in hearing more about the faith, came to this Religion forum and started reading the threads.
Do you guys think they would be drawn to the faith by what they read in these threads?
I'm interested in what you guys think. I have to get off to school now, but I'll check back this evening to see what kind of ideas you all have.

Good Morning Steph,
Hope you and your baby are doing fine..
I've been thinking lately.Pretend you aresomeone who has been, maybe, somewhat interested in hearing more about the faith, came to this Religion forum and started reading the threads.

Yes..I sure do. I've had many PM me and tell me that though they never reply they are inspired by what is written on here..This is why I returned..I didn't feel much support from the regulars but much suppot from folks I didn't even know..Sure..there may be some turn off threads but most read them all so they get a whole picture..
Also, when your on here enough you learn the people behind the thread and give them the benefit of the doubt..Where there is ongoing annomosity..that won't happen ..rather some folks sit back and wait for an opportunity to catch you in your words.just like back in Jesus day.Back in Jesus days there those who wore there long religious robes and their primay purpose was to sit and catch Jesus in His words...BUT "The common folks heardJesus gladly." The long robes will always be here..and yet the common folks will always be here as well. I'm here for the common man..and the lovers/servants of God.
Stephanie..if you are thinking there can be total unity here..that won't happen Jesus said "He came to bring a sword of division." It just won't happen..Hopefully consistant fruit will draw common folks to the truth of God's Word..

Matt 18:20 [20] For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Stepnanie; Stay around long enough and you will learn the true meaning of "The long robes". We are not here for a select group. All don't have the same ministery as I am sure you already know. Most come here IMO not because they are lost and seeking God, they come because they already have a relationship with God. They are looking for truth that sets men free and brings one into a closer walk with God than they have had in the past. The lost need to be wittnessed to and won to God no doubt. Those old gray haired veterans of years of spiritual battles gather to sharpen their swords for the next battle. There are several here that have fought these battles much longer than I. Not for your admonition, but for others who want to continually condemn the doctrinal teaching and discussion that are carried on here. When you were born, I had been fighting the spiritual fight as a soldier of the Cross for over 20 years. Not that one gains prevledges with age, neither does that makeold folksright. However experience only is gained by doing. Experience teaches me that going out and engaging sinners, one on one, is the best way to win the lost. Sitting on the computer and condeming the "long robes" hasn't proven itself to win anyone yet. My experience has been that the one who is busy pointing fingers, doesn't have time to win the lost.
You are a young lady in age, therefore your experience isn't as great as the "old fogies", so I ask you? Have you been ran off by the discussions of doctrinal issues? I don't think so, you are still here asking questions, reading posts, gaining insight, learning from the discussions. Some would condemn this, but your soul and its spiritual groweth is as important as reaching out to a rank sinner. Bringing one to a place of perfection, is as important as getting a profession of faith from an unbeliever. More important than how many we get to start the race, is how many we get to finish the race.
I like all the answers so far, and I agree. This place certainly isn't perfect, "ugly" things can arise here and there...but that's to expected. Who's perfect? There's only one I can thing of... and lets just say He's got a much better networking system than the internet!
As a whole I think this forum serves a lot of different purposes to a lot of different people. Most of those purposes are definitely for the good. I have no doubt that I'm in the majority when I say this forum is a benefit to me and my spirit. (hmmm....there's a good question. "Are 'me' and 'my spirit' really seperate?)

Good post Snooky. I don't have a large following pming me for my insights as Chuck does, but over the yrs I have been encouraged a few times and blessed to hear that someone was blessed in some way by something God gave me to give.
As Snooky indicated many of us come here to rightly divide the Word. . . .or in my case to learn about something that I may not be clear on. One thing that one may consider is that this is not a "Hunters for Christ Forum", but rather a "Religion" forum. I don't see religion as ever uniting folk for a common purpose. Also, as it is a "religion forum" much that will be posted will be a topic of a belief that everyone is not in agreement in.
As far as the long robe comment, Jesus was never able to be tripped up . . .He stood the test in all ways. To question a man about his doctrine is not like unto the Pharisees trying to trip Christ up. We are not to accept everything we hear and give an amen to it . . .(In 1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.) Satan himself can pose as an angel of light (2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.)
Not saying that any particular person falls under that category, just pointing out that before we buy into a doctrine we should rightly divide the Word. I want a true understanding, and I don't mind issues being hashed out. I don't care for rudeness, nor for the vindictive games that folk can play . .for whatever reason . . .but I am thankful for this site as it is one of my most valuable study tools.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post guys. I know you put some thought into your replies and I appreciate it.
Chuck; we're doing really well. Miriam is alert, happy, and growing. And I am shrinking nicely. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get comfortably back into my original clothes in another week. We're looking forward to getting her out of the preemie diapers and buying them at the grocery store like everyone else.
