Default First hunt this yr

Guys, I'm so thankful to be able to enjoy another deer season . I went saturday morning and was in my stand at the crack of dawn. Man, God's handiwork is wonderful.
I had put my stand up a couple of weeks before, and it seemed fine then, but sometimes theres nothing like actually hunting, to show you that it would have been better in another spot.
This was my first hunt since I bought my first bow last yr, and my thinking was to get in close, but obviously concealment did'nt enter my mind. Nevertheless I saw three does . . .but there were young with them, and they soon busted me. Then later a young buck (that I would'nt have shot with a rifle) eased in behind me. I determined to go for it as my first bow kill.
He quickly spotted me, and we had a stare off . . .I eventually almost convinced him that I was just an oversized possum hanging there, and he eased on out from under me, still keeping 1 eye peeled. He turns his head away out at 20 yds and I go to draw, and I then realize that drawing my bow sitting with my back against a tree and hunched over is'nt so easy. So I'm putting all I got into it when he turns and says "I thought so!!), tearing off to tell all the critters in the woods about the rookie in the funnel between the railroad tracks and the rye grass field.
Never the less, I had a great day and hav'nt enjoyed a hunt so much since I was a kid. I came away appreciating God's handiwork and in a new deminsion of deer hunting.
Hope your seasons are everything your looking for.

I know what you mean I am looking forward to mine as I haven't been able to hunt in 3 years. I don't bow hunt as the seasons overrun the birds up here. My old pointer has died this year so I may take up next year. They tell me I can hunt this year and after not being able to hunt the last 3 years I can hardly wait. Friends bring venison but it's not the same. Don't know if the old man can drag one out yet , but sure can't wait to find out

That's bow hunting, but so awesome. I got a little buck opening day this year, and have an axis deer hunt planned and a film crew going along to air on TV and on the web, this will be the second time to film a hunt this year. This should be a great hunt, I feel like a kid on Christmas, I can't hardly wait, I thank God every day for it.

( When we previewed the first show, it inspired me to loose my gut . In the last two months, I've lost over twin pounds) Glory to God!!!!!

There is nothing like bow hunting for me, once you get that first one, it will be over for guns ...

Good luck, keep it up, shoot the first one that presents you a with shot, get first one over with.

God bless

Bro, you're notuse to all that hot Salsa that Lizz is feeding you, it's affecting your thinking......Wazz the matter for you?

You know, I wish I could sit at the piano and play Chopin's Polonaise. In order to get to Carnagie Hall, you have to practice, practice, practice..

I'm sure you will harvast one soon with your bow......Hang in there...

Glad you're able to see what us bowhunters go thru each time we head out! Good story too.

I got my two does out of the way 20 minutes apart in mid October freeing up my 2nd buck tag. Last Wednesday, I killed a 12 point non-typical here on my place - what an AWESOME hunt that was! I posted the story in the bowhunting section last week. Do a search for 12 point non typical to see the pics.

I blew it this morning though . . . I saw a MASSIVE 8 point yesterday afternoon with a spread I'm guestimatting at 24+" wide. I had him coming right at me this morning, but he went down the wrong trail away from me. I tried grunting and bleating at him, but after 10 - 15 minutes, I figured he was long gone, so I went to hang up my bow . . . [X(]

THAT'S when I saw him. He picked me off from the trail right in front of me at 25 yards. It's too thick to see him before that and the trail he was on leads directly to an active scrape that probably would've resulted in me being able to draw undetected for an 18 yard broadside shot -- if I had waited 5 more seconds to hang up my bow!!!!!!![:@][:@]
