The bible say we shouldnt take to things of this world. I am finding that very true. Some examples you see that hunting gun you really really want. You go buy it you feel pretty good about yourself for awhile then it goes away. You feel the same before you bought it. Month later comes along get the credit card bill in the mail you see that gun on there you ask yourself did I really need that gun? The same can go for a newer truck, newer house, more hunt clothing, whatever it be.

We are to be in the world but not of this world my friend. My one issue with finances that really gets to me is when you see people buy wants to the point they can't afford to pay thier ties. A good friend of mine was struggleing with this not long ago. He placed his wants in a position of priority. As long as you can meet your needs and still be obediant to God <afford to pay your ties> don't be so fast to beat yourself up over your finances brother.

My friend, there is nothing wrong with having nice things as long they are not more important to you than God and family..I bought me a new Marlin 30/30 rifle and a new scope this year but i don't hunt on sunday, I go to church and pay my tithe and offerings and take care of my family..God wants you to have nice things.. He says in Psalm 37:4
"Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart."
It's not the things that cause us problems, it's the love of them that messes us up..have a great week and God Bless

Oh okay thanks guys for clearing that up. So we can love things in this world guns, hunting, whatever. As it doesnt affect our relationship with God. Because my two greatest passions are hunting and farming. I try to keep in mind that I thank God greatly for these two great passions. With out them I would be a lost person. I truely do feel that these are gifts from God that he has given me.

I absolutely love to fish. Just because I bought some nice new reels and took my youth class on a fishing trip it don't mean we are lost. It just means we are going to have a fish fry this sunday. Me and Motor seem to firmly have the baptist A-men pew held down here. Look how much worldly goods king Solomen had. God FIRST and don't let satan talk you into beating your self up for walking in the fulness of God's blessings.

Fred,
You and you alone have to answer to God's convictions ..The disciples left all. We can talk about Solomon's riches..but lets not forget that Solomon also royally backslid...He later went on to say that all of those things were vaniity..Yes, God giveth and blesses us much BUT don't compare yourself with others..Your standard is Jesus the Christ. Jesus said that No man is good..NONE...Seek your answers from God's Word alone..and obey ..this is called living faith..

I don't see why we shouldn't be grateful to God for the blessings we have received and the ability to enjoy our lives. Of course we need to be careful that we are enjoying God's gifts and not all the temptations that take us away from living the life of God's faithful.

I am feeling very blessed right now having a husband who gets up in the middle of the night, changes Miriam's diaper and brings her to me. He then stays up with me until she's finished. I know I've never done anything to deserve the blessings I have so I just thank God for them.

I agree ..I'm very thankful for ALL of God's blessings. I was very thankful while pulling in lots of specks yesterday with my son Matt ..

I was mostly responding to this following quote..

"you see that hunting gun you really really want. "Fred

For me he is talking about impalsive shopping..My wife is very fugile and does the budgeting..I'm not...and it's a good thing.I've bought stuff over the last 5 years I've been very sorry for. 1. A fancy guitar that certainly was not worth what I paid...2. A boat motor that had a warranty that wasn't worth beans..I know very well what Fred means here..Sometimes, out of being bummed out we buy stuff .The joy is short lived and some are still paying for the items with their credit card. When a person gets older they come to recognize that contentment with godliness truly is great gain..It's also amazing how much influence others have on our spending...I know if I hung around on the bow site I'd be buying a new bow. Last year I hung a whole lot on the fishing site and spent a whole lot of money on fishing stuff...I know if I wasn't in that tourny I would have not spent nearly the money. Therefore ; lately I ask myself..Why are you buying this item?..is it to impress someone?..Is it truly a need?

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post, It might say it, like No. 1? I am not very educated, as you will soon see[&o]However I do love to talk and Sharring God's Word. I am 60 years old, Retired, wife and 3 kids, 2 Grand Kids.

We are told to seek God First and all these thing will be added to us. Food, Shelter, Clothing. It says God knows we have need of these things the Heather Seek. And in Vs 19 of Matt. 6 The righter says Lay NOT up for you Treasures upon Earth where Rust and Moth Corrpt and Thevies break thru and Steal.

However, their is no talk about Guns, Boats, Rollx's, Cars

Their is nothing wrong with riches as long as we don't put them before God and his Kingdom! Jesus and Paul were on Boats if they were sinful? God would not have let them used them. If they would have put their Boats before God He would have Burned them.
