Default Trail Tacks

My son Aaron and I tacked me up a nice spot 2 1/2 miles deep in the Green Swamp..My tacks are mostly in groups of 2..Two weeks ago I got off the double tacks and got disoriented..It was a wasted hunt because I had to find a tree in the dark..and it ended up being in a bad location. Yesterday I found the right trail..Although I didn't get a deer I was blessed to see 2 does at about 40 yds. They stayed in cover though not offereing a shot. Later that morning during broad daylight I took my hunting partner to where I saw the deer..It was a simple 200 yd walk..Could we find the area..no..not at first. The Christian walk is like that..in the flesh it's impossible. We must have our road illumunied by the Holy Spirit..if not it's totally a wasted day and one could fall into life's pit falls full of gators and moccasins.Christ has gone before us laying out the trail tacks in our life..We must stay on his paths of righteousness...The way may appear easy but it's not. There are many things that can get us sidetracked..The tree we were looking for has my safety rope hanging from it..Eventually we found it ...

In Summary..our ways are totallly wasted unless we are following after the Spirit. "Jesus is the way , the truth and the life"
God bless,
C7

Amen Chuck, nice analogy you used.

I still don't envy you hunting down there with gators and snakes. I'll take my chances with the wolves and bears.

All very true Chuck!

I feel the same way about the gators and snakes. I grew up in the south...even spent some time there in Florida. But you can keep them critters. Where I live, near the Canadian border, we don't have poisonous snakes...too cold in the winter.

Thanks for the thoughts.

When I lay out tacks to find my way back into an area, I use double tacks to indicate when the trail is going to turn. I put them one above the other so they aren't mistaken for deer eyes . . . well, maybe a silly deer!

Thanks for the reply Dave...I make an arrow with my tacks when it's time to turn..My deer stand tree has a nice cross made of tacks on it..It was shining a long way away..That was a pretty site . It always feels good to be in a tree at the swamp than on the ground.

Chuck,

Very true. It is easy in this life to get off the correct path.

Or in our hunting terms, we were standing looking at the tree you had hunted from, but we could not see you safety rope that you left tied around it even when we were looking straight at it. Some times God gives us lots of clues to his presense, but we (people) do not see them. We seem to get blinded.

Cheers,
Chris
