Default Do we respect each other..

I had a conversation with my wife this morning which I think can easily carry over here..I'll try to make it short and sweet.

My son we adopted drives her crazy..from a 1- 10 a 7 ..but for me he is a 0...no stress at all.I've dealt with much tougher kids...
Now the Mexican neighbors are a 0 for her but a 4 for me..

Why is this??..After much discussion this morning it boils down to respect. My son respects me and obeys me on the first prompt.I love Aaron and do alot with him.He does not listen to my wife and {Showing disrespect } and he grieves her spirit greatly. My neighbors don't respect me and park on my property and turn their boom boxes up loud at 1:00 AM..just for a few secondsto getmy attention..that ticks me off...but I'm learning to let it go. My home is paid for and it's a small price to pay to stay here...

Now...concernign HNI ..it's a shame but you can tell those who have no respect for you on here..they answer some people with courteous words and others they give a haughty answer...thus you lose respect for them...quickly.

I really respect the recent conversation with Chad..although we differ on many of our theolofical views ,I sense the respect there ..and I like that. I reckon you could call these type "Peacemakers" There are very civil ways of discussing contrary views withouit coming across speaking in a demeaning manner..not only that..once you have lost folks respect..they don't hear a word your saying anyhow.

In summary..if you have showed disrespect to a brother or sister on here I would encourage you to PM them and apologize. We all slip up at times and fall in this area and goingto a fellow Christian in love and asking for forgiveness is the only remedy. I really didn'tcare for Manuman at all..however; through PMS and phone calls I feel our relationship has been honestly healed.

God bless,
Chuck7

Chuck,
I'ev learned to respect most people because they are made by God and especially other Christians.
Respect does not mean
a. Accepting their values, theological stances or their mannerisms...but we are commanded to love one another.."By this shall ALL men know that ye are my disciples."

Simply bearing fruit 101..

We should treat folk respectfully and I try to do that. Real respect however is earned to my way of thinking. Some beliefs I simply cannot have any respect for but that still does not mean that I should show disrespect to the person that has them.
Being disrespectful to folk is really showing weakness if you really get to thinking about it. For instance, in debating a subject, hurling insults, making demeaning remarks, or even whining about others rude behavior, has nothing to do with proving your truth, reveals that either you don't have answers, that you may be in error, or that your ego is bigger than the value you place on your message.
I know that I have become frusterated before when a subject I'm really interested in is being debated and it turns into an insult and whining war. I've learned tho that tho I can't do anything about others I can solve at least half the problem by keeping a rein on my own self.

My wife speaks Spanish ..The father and I get along fine..it's the other families that have moved in. Like I said..it's minimum but if I'm honest ...loud music in the wee hours does offend me some..My wife sleeps through it. The owner of the property and I do out best to maintain peace..There is about 12 that live in this home.

I have great respect for the people here because we all share the same faith although we may express it in different ways and worship in different ways.

Many here have been in the faith longer than I have so I also feel I can learn from them.

Thanks for the response. Lately I've been asking myself the question...if folks don't show respect toward you..you need to ask why?? like Leaf said, "Respect is earned."I also have to ask myself the question ..why don't you respect the other person ? In summary...I'm starting to treat others a little differntly and I'm also startingto act a little differntly toward others,
Jesus said it well.."Do unto others as you would have others to do unto you."
God bless,
C7
