I am a missouri synod lutheran, and im just wondering if anyone thinks it matter if you are lutheran, catholic, baptist, or any other denomination of Christianity out there. I dont really care, i think we all have the same basic principles, I just always hear people makin fun of catholics and catholics makin fun of me cuz I dont believe in prayin to the Virgin Mary.I wanna know if im the only one out there who doesnt really care bout denomination.
I have mixed feelings. I couldn't say that it matters what name is on the building where you worship, but I do think it matters how you worship. This is based on Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
We also have a warning in James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. It is clear that belief alone is not enough.
We can also read the story about Sauls conversion to the apostle Paul in Actsand see that strong belief and sincerity also aren't enough.
Matthew 7:13-14 Tells us to stay on the straight and narrow.
Based on this, I don't think that just anyone whocallson the Lordis ok, even if they believe with all their heart they are right. God gives us specific instructions, and we have the choice to follow them or not.

I honestly don't believe that God will condemn you because you worship in a certain way or follow a certain set of doctrines. I think the sincerity in your heart is what matters.
I'm Catholic by the way. Well not officially. I've converted and will be confirmed at Easter. (I was baptized as an infant.)

I don't think it matters what you call yourself if you are born again, but it certainly matters what Doctrine you follow..there are many verses in the bible that talk about doctrines and there are many false teachers that teach false doctrines..

Galatians 1:6-9 - Any man is accursed if he preaches a gospel different from what is revealed in the New Testament. But denominationalism is different from the gospel. It is nowhere authorized in the gospel.
Gal.1:6-9
[6] I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
[7] Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
[8] But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
[9] As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

John 4:19The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Absolutely it is wrong to preach any gospel other than the gospel of Jesus Christ.. 1 Corin.15:1-11, that is the one and onlytrue gospel..but it's sad to say there are many that preach a different gospel and many false teachers today, especially on TV. and the internet..
It's not the denomination that matters, it's what you believe that will get you to heaven..

Hey Zeke. Coming from the mostconservative and sound Lutheran synod out there, I will have to agree with you. I have met some rellygreat believers in almost any denomination. It seems as if that God has a remnanat just about everywhere! Title means nothing. Being a born again beleiver in Christ is all that matters. Of course, like Motor said, doctrine is certainly important, since some teachings lead one away from the Gospel, but there are numerous people in otherwise sound denominations that have yet to come to terms with their own personal relationship with Christ, banking on ceremonies, works, and many different things that they can do that they think is the equivalent of the Gospel message of grace, mercy, and the only way that pleases the Lord, which He says that without faith it is impossible to please Him. Denomination is irrelevant. Your own personal relationship, based on His Gospel isn't. BTW, I have attended several Missouri Synod Churches, that had a lot of great people in them.
Every denomination that teaches the Gospel of Christ has it's believers, non believers and some who are straying off the straight and narrow. I have met Catholics, Lutherns, and Baptists who have all shown a great love for Christ. I have watched people in my home church stray away from the Lord and have now started going to another church hoping to find peace after burning quite a few bridges. I hear of some of the problems that our Federation deals with and all I can say is Praise the Lord that He has helped me to stay on the right track! And pray for those who arestruggling. Burnt bridges or not they need our Love and the Love of God the Almighty Father.
It is not my right nor my responsibility to judge ones Salvation let alone a whole denomination. It feels good to see so many others in Christ that feel the same way.
