Deerhunter-Just remember the Holy Bible is not just any
book but it is your Life if you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
When you pick up the Bible remember that many, many
people died so that you can even hold in your hands a Book
of such divine truth and inspiration as this is.Remember
that most of all the Lord Jesus Christ who died for you and
Loves you Deerhunter more than you can ever imagine will
open up your eyes to understand the scriptures so that they
are more real to you than even your closest friends will ever
be!The Bible is alive so let God speak to you my friend and
if you really seek him while he can be found it will be the
greatest thing you will ever do so before it is to late open
up the Bible and ask God to let you understand it and to
ask Jesus into your heart and that precious Book will be
alive to you because it is alive.Take Care! Mike

There are many things that I don't understand because I didn't live back then. I like the Bible we have that has explanations of some of the terms, and the history and all. It really helps.

Fred,
In October of 1976 I had the same thoughts as you...I hated school and got Ds in nearly all of my subjects..I was a real goof off in the military and was told at the end of Oct. I would be getting discharged.
I felt sick. I pulled out my little green Gideon New Testamnet and red the entire book in about 2 -3 weeks ..I didn't understand one word..bu tmy mind began changing. I was privedged to have been given a vision of Jesus ...and soon afterwards gave my life to Jesus Christ..

Point..I didn't understand a word of it.God blessed my effort. he doesn't tell us that we have to understand..He says we have to beleive..he will give you understanding along the straight and narrow.

Everyone is not like me..My wife understood loud and clear and I'm sure that many on here did too...but I honestly did not understand the 1611 King James..yet my heart was strangely warmed and convicted.God sent the right people in my life shortly after and I was Born Again.

PS MY life changed so much they kept me in the service and gave me 3 ranks.

Fred, go into any bookstore. In the religious section are many types of study bibles, just browse and see which is better for you. The first time I read it, it was the Good News For Modern Man.. Even my six year old grand daughter can understand that.
