It seems that the popular music is Rap or Hip Hop what ever want to call it. I dont know if many of you have listened to this music but it doesnt seem very christian. Most of the music I listen to is country. To me this does seem along the lines of better music to listen to as a way of being a christian. Maybe its the times you look back at the 70's and 80's rock was very popular to listen to. Some of this music I listen to. Was this good music to listen to as a christian. I would say for the most part yeah. Any ideas to this subject matter.

Funny how you notice things around you when God is in control. That's how I feel about people's language. I ownmy ownconstruction business, I have to walk away from some of the garbage I hear on the job. The nice thing about music is you have the option of changing the station, or just turning off that trash.
One day, I was starting up a fairly good sized fire alarm system in a new assisted living facility and the general contractor's boys were listening to Howard Stern. They had it playing on about 9 different radios. I asked them to turn the dial on the one closest to where I was working. The response was "I will listen to whatever I want". So, I fired up the fire alarm and decided a horn test was in order (which of course I had to do to certify the system). Now, you have to understand that when that fire alarm went off...the shingles quaked. After about 2 minutes, they were complaining and I said "Hey, I will listen to whatever I want". They changed the channel on the radio.

That's the nice thing about being the general contactor... I don't allow radios on any ofjobs. In the old days after a warning to turn them off, I would kick them across the floor... I've calmed down in my old age. I tell them once, if they don't comply they leave the job.
The way different cultures express themselves is neutral. What they are saying and even beyond to what their life is saying, and their intentions with their muiscal expressions is where I draw the line. It is the content as well as the intent for me. I've seen and heard some great believers rap and rock, and I've seen some devilish lifestyles among Southern Gospel quartet groups.
One reason I don't allow radios on my jobs... I can't have drywallers listening to one thing, while electricians, painters, carpet layers have something else blaring on the radio. All the while there I am trying to speak on the phone to another contractor that is running late.[&o].
There is Christian music that drives me crazy, I can't stand Hip Hop or Rap... There is even some Pop Christian music that I can't stand... but then again, I am an old buzzard!
