Default Different Pews
In most churches the pews look alike, but they are really different.

The critical pew-This pew watches the preacher with a critical eye..the singing is too loud or too soft..the building is either too hot or too cold..The critical pew finds everything but the blessing of God..

The irregular pew-Sometimes it is full; sometimes it is empty.the problem is you never know what to expect from this pew..

The cordial pew-This pew is always radiant like the sunshine..this pew greets other pews with genuine cordiality, extends a handshake to every visitor, and listens with joy to the sermon..

The prayful pew-This pew spends a moment or two with bowed head in silent prayer on entering the church.this pew comes to worship, and brings the spirit of worrship with it into the church..

Which of the pews will you occupy next sunday when you go to church??

I am a cross between cordial and prayerful, I wonder if I am the only one?
This is a good post Motor.

You know Josh and I almost always sit in the same pew. Our church has 3 rows of pews. The center row, the row to the left of the pulpit and the one to the right. We sit in the front pew on the right, in front of where Josh's mom and dad usually sit. I like to sit in the front because there are less distractions there. My kids are enough of a distraction, so to sit around everyone else makes it tougher for us and the kids. Potluck Sundays can be hard because your kids can smell the food and they get hungry thinking about it.But most times we can at least take notes from the sermon.

I'm probably on the irregular and prayerful. I like the idea of not "knowing" what to expect". That's what I like about my church. You never know when God's gonna MOVE big time. This past Sunday is a perfect example. We had 3 get saved, and 9 join the church! Great service of shouting, singing, testifying, praying, rejoicing, PRAISE GOD it was great! Those services don't happen EVERY meeting. Hence, not knowing what to expect. I guess you may have meant that a little different. But, thought I'd share anyway. I'm really a mix of 2,3, and 4- but am guilty of being on #1 too. [&o]

I miss the pews usually except on wen. night. I am definately in the prayer pew. Usually we spend a LOT of time before and after church fellowshiping though. Our pastor says most of his friends <who are pastors> complain because they can't get people to come to church, and there mouths drop open when he says, he can't get his to leave. Service starts at 10, probably half the congragation is there by 9. The older and now even the younger women bringing cookies, cakes and home made turnovers and sweets. The coffee pot runs nearly non stop. The picknic tables will be fullwith us discussing one of three things always. Missions, Outreach or scripture.

The biggest problem we really have now with the church is we have ran out of room for people to sit. So many new families have come in and made a commitment to christ and entire families getting saved and all of them HUNGERY for the word. Service is over at 12 and if we can get away from the church by 2 it is about average. Usually we pick up about one more night a week just to come in with the pastor and the deacons and spend a couple of hours in prayer. By the grace of God we break group on the 9th of next month to build on so we can have room for everyone. The thing that is almost funny is will be out of room again when it is built and just finished the plans for a second addition of a 40 by 60 to have room for everyone. If you want to see the pews fill up with people who are hungery for God's word, spend some time going out and knocking on doors and offer someone the greatest gift you could ever give them. The gift of the Gospel.

Think what we as christians could do if we put aside our pride and our own agenda and spent one day out sharing the gospel with sinners and asking how we could minister to their needs? By humbleing our selves and being his servants we can make a Huge differance through him. SOrry to be so long winded brothers and sisters, just wanted to touch on that a bit.

Yours in Christ,
Frank
