My cousin who was a southern baptist preacher an who went on to be with theLORD last year told me a joke an I cain't think about him without thinking of the joke!! Hope ya'll don't mine there is a message in it!!
A older man was visting a church he was dressed in bib overalls an flannel shirt---The preacher was gettin with it laying down the hell and almost the brimstone--the older man was "Amennn preacher come on"---and the preacher would slip back not wanting to make his sheep upset with him--This happened 2 or 3 times---After the service the preacher took the older man aside and told him to pray toJESUS before he came back and see how he should dress in church!!
Well next week the older man was back and dressed in the same clothes--Again the preacher would just aboutget toalmost strutting like a banny rooster--the older man would be just about to havetheHOLY GHOST jump all over him--And the preacher would backpeadal again!
After church the preacher and two deacons got the older man off to the side again--"Didn't i tell you to pray and ask JESUS what to wear"-The old man said "YES AND I DID"--"what did the lord say" asked the preacher.
The old man replied" GOD SAID HE AIN'T BEEN INYA'LLS CHURCH IN SO LONG HE HAS FORGOT WHAT YA'LL WEAR"

Don't think you will REB--least not for that---The LORD says come as you are!! My preacher has a great saying "We are the fishers of men-God said if we catch them he'll clean them"

Here's how I figure it, you go to church to be fed and if you are a new comer I don't expect you to act like you were raised in the church. And as far as I know there is no dress code in the bible. I think women need to worry more about what they wear than men. As long as you are covered come in your work clothes cause the Lord don't mind!

All I usually wear to church is Bib overalls and a T shirt. Southern Baptist to boot. The mission director for the association is one of my best friends. Several Pastors in the association regularly come over to the house and sit around the table for coffee and to sample the wife's cooking, while we work out plans and lay routes to workon outreach and witnessing in the community. It is amazing that a normal working man's cloths helps me reach people for christ that would not even spend the time listening to the pastor in a suit to begin with. If I felt like I could reach even one family or one person for christ by wearing a clown suit to church sunday, you could call me Bo-Bo the clown. This kind of made me think really. I wear the bib overalls because they are all I have to wear and all I can afford. Even when I go to the association meetings and meet with the pastors and deacons from all the other churchs in the association I never feel out of place because of my overalls. We are all just men of God trying to work togeather for the Kingdom. About the only comment I have heard about my Overalls was when we were discussing the church growth rates and ours has increased about 350 percent in the past year. One of the younger pastors who is a good friend of mine spoke up and said if he could do that at his church him and his outreach minister would get them a set of overalls.
