Default My job keeps me from living the good life..

Ive been a trucker for many years..I stay gone alot and seldom ever attend church..My job is like living on the streets of Vegas..Prostitutes..alot of cursing..the stress from delivering loads and lack of sleep its almost impossible to keep your eyes focused on anything except trucking..

Ive been thinking of a career change to have more time for myself and other things like attending church and spending time with family..Ive watched my kids grow up in pictures and talking to them on the phone..My marriage has suffered also..Im on my second one now and we allready are having problems cause Im gone so much..

When I come in from a tripI cant sleep because when Im in the truck the bed shakes andI fall asleep easily..I have many times went outside and cranked the truck and slept in the driveway of my home just to get some sleep..The doctor has put me on medication for depression and I dont feelmuch diffrence..Ive been on the road for more than 20 years and Ive had it..with life in general..The payI bring home isnt worth all the timeI put into it and I cant afford another divorce..

I sometimes pray for things to change but it keeps getting worse..Im in need of prayer bigtime beforeI lose it all (again)..I need some drastic changes in my life and I know he can help..But if he doesnt do anything soon its going to be to late..

All I can say brother that being in church makes you as much as a Christian as sticking your hands in the oven and expecting your hands to turn into buscits.

I've been there. I was on the road in the early 80's and I hated it. But don't use that as an excuse, I am in construction most of the guys I work with cuss, drink, do drug, are excons. Some are what society would call the scum of the earth, but I don't allow them to bring me down. In fact I use that opportunity when I get them alone to witness to them one on one. Some come around most don't.

First one must change the heart, and when the heart changes then the mind changes, and when that is done a life changes. Don't worry about going to Chruch, tune in to Christian radio listen to the word, let it get a hold of you, then God will lead you where He wants you!

Brother, just remember what Jesus said:

Matt.18:20

[20] For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word -
Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has
nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's
crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life -
Think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children -
Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep -
Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job -
Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another -
Remember that not one of us is without sin and we all answer to one MAKER.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down -
Put a smile on your face and thank GOD you're alive and still around.

Brother, I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but who forced you into your profession? You said that you have prayed for a change. Put some work behind your prayers. Get into some work cloths, pack a lunch, show up at 7 AM in the morning at the local construction company. Tell the foreman that you want to work and you brought lunch-your ready to start now. If he isn't impressed enough to hire you today, be back tomorrow with your lunch, meet him as he gets out of his truck and ask if someone failed to show up, your ready to work. In this generation of poor workers and sorry help, it want be but a few days and you will be on the payroll. Be there every day when the boss shows up, leave every evening with him as he leaves, give him a days work and you will be home every night with some change in your pockets. Be in church every Sunday, live for God, and blessing will come your way.

Good advice Snooky, The best job I ever had I got by doing just as you said. I ended up working there for 30 yrs and am drawing a retirement now. I agree with Rev in that going to church won't make one a christian but once a christian it is a hearts desire to find a good church. Sometimes it may not be possible tho to attend church and christian radio helps a bit but also sharing Christ whenever we can will build one up.
My prayers will be with you Freezers full.

I spent the first 10 years of my marriage on the road working construction, I missed out on all my kids first. I really regret it now but at the time it seemed like the thing to do. Personally I think a man needs to pray for the Lord to put him to work where the Lord wants him, thats what I am doing at this point in my life.

Hey Josey-Just to let you know you are in my prayers.
Dont ever give up as satan wants you to do just that.
You are very special to the Lord and he has plans for
your life.I saw a special where truckers traveled with
there laptop and were taking online courses and do
there studies at truckstops and eating places as they
were tired of the road just like you are.I do agree with
the Rev that you would benefit by listening to a lot of
Christian radio with preaching and singing as that will
lift your spirit up as you open up to the Lord. You might
have to subscribe to one of the satellite radio services
to get good radio programming.Take your Bible with you
on your trips.Try to read at least one Proverbs every day
for the wisdom of God and four Psalms everyday for the
Praise of God.Reach out to the Lord and he will reach out
to you also! Do not give up you have a lot of people
praying for you and things can and will get better! Mike
