Does God grade on a curve? Is there more than one answer?
Suppose your history teacher told you that Columbus discovered America in 1492. Just then, four other people raised their hands and said. "I think he discovered American in 1454 [or 1678 or 1543 or 1722]. What makes you the authority on history anyway? We are going to believe what we think is right"
Do these kids have the freedom to believe what they think is right? Of course they do. A wise teacher would respond. "You may believe any date you choose to believe, but there is on ly on right answer and I have told you what it is. Ifyou put a different answer on the test at the end ofthe term, it will checked wrong."
God has given people the freedom to choose what they want to believe about who he is and what his plan is for human beings. But when the test scores are graded at the end of the life, there will be only one right answer.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the father except through me" (John 14:6). This means that God grades on a pass/fail depending on what we have done with his Son, Jesus.
Many people would like to believe that God grades on a curve. In other words, if you do good things or go to church more than others or give more money than 60 percent of the rest of the world, you will get into heaven. Jesus makes it clear, however, that there is only one way to heaven.
God has given people the freedom to believe any religion they want. But the final authority is not their own beliefs. There is only one right answer. God's standard is faith in Jesus Christ, his death on the cross, so that our sin would not eternally separate us from God, and his resurrection.

The Lord doesn't have to throw curves to strike you out! He's as serious as a heart attack!
