Default What is your favorite parable?

Mine is the parable of the four soils it reminds me that I need to have root and that we are all bearing friut according to our abilities, some a hundredfold some 60 and some 30. It also helps me remember that I need to be in communion with the Spirit so I can hear the word and understand it. Mathew 13:1-23

The Good Samaritan

It teaches me many things.
1. Love is more important than having all of your theology correct.
Christ used a Samaritan to demonstrate this parable...The Samaritans theology certainly wasn't correct.
2. Love is an action word.
3. An awesome illustration of loving strangers.
4. A great example in going the extra mile.
5. An awesome illustration to show you don't haveto have a robe to minister.

Mine has to be the seeds being planted on good fertile soil, or rocks, path, etc.

It really scares me to death. Cause I am all the time growing hard, and the world chokes me and I let it sometimes.

Yeah I can relate we studied this one time in bible study and it is amazing knowing that we are not always on good ground and find ourselves in the thorns. It is kind of neat looking back though and seeing when we asked God to put us back on good ground and the fact that He has every time we ask.

Prodigal Son.

Gives me hope

Keeps me from judging others so quickly

Quick Note: When he asked for his inheritance...he might have well said "Yo, dad...I wish you where dead!"

Second would be the talant.

Keeps me in check/scares me (cause I honestly feel I've been "given much")

again...keeps me from judgeing others, and puts my mind at ease with some people. I have some "special needs" friends back home and it greatly increases my patience with them AND puts my mind at ease about their status with God.

Not really a parable but I OFTEN come back to the account of Martha and Mary. "One thing...and she has chosen the better." Confounds me.

Thanks for the list Tex. Gave me a chance to review some that I had forgotten about. They are all great lessons.

I'll have to say that the parable of the Lost Sheep has always been my favorite.

For years a favorite of mine has been the parable of the man who saw a treasure in the field and had to give up everything he had in the world to buy the field to get the treasure

Luk 7:40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
Luk 7:41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
Luk 7:42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
Luk 7:43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
