Well, I wish I let God, guide me thru everything in my life. Sadly, I probably only let him control 5% of my life. Our goal should be 100%.

And how do you know if he is guiding you? Well, if you keep your head in the word. Strive to be like Jesus Christ, then I believe nothing that happens to me is an accident. Romans tells us. If you love God, then everything that happens in our life is his will and for the best for us. You know when your walk with Christ is not as it should be. Or at least you should.

romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I am certainly not the best person to ask. I pray about things and ask for God's guidence. Many things I believe to be my choice, in other words...they do not affect my walk with Christ. For instance, what will I have for dinner? Some things I consider to be very important to my walk or I may just need a helping hand, so I ask about it. Sometimes I ask for signs... Gideon asked for signs, why cant I? An example of very important and needing help figuring it out would be...Should I ask Lynn to marry me? One item thatI always ask help with is in doing my churches communion meditation. I never prepare ahead of time. I pray about it on the drive to church and ask God to use me. Basically, it is his message and he needs to guide what I say.

It can happen, but you have to let it happen.

I know that I don't let God have enough control over my life either. It is something that is so hard to do because our human nature comes into play and says, I can do this on my own. And I don't know about you but when that happens to me it usually painstaking.

Here's an illustration for you: It's like running into a brick wall. Over and over. Then I must finally knock some sense into myself and then I hear, "Go around the wall." See even knowing this happens all the time I still do it.

One thing that struck me from your post is that you used a capital for "I" and yet you typed "god" a couple times without a capital "G".

If you want GOD to guide your life you have to think "i" and "GOD".

I have a dog. Every time he sees me he wags his tail and comes over to me. He is always glad to see me and he loves me unconditionally. Once in awhile he does something I don't approve of and I will "scold him". He hangs his head and wants me to forgive him. All it takes is one kind word from me and he wags his tail and is happy again. He does not understand me and my "complicated life". He just knows that I will feed him and scratch his head and rub his belly and take him for walks and bird hunting.
I am his "master" and he is quite happy about it.

I often think in terms like that for my relationship with GOD. HE is my "Master". HE gives me everything I need and I give him my loyalty and love. I do not fully understand HIM just as my dog does not understand me. But I love HIM, am willing to serve HIM. And when I make mistakes and offend HIM, I am so glad HE is willing to forgive me so loveingly.

question: did God "guide" the Israelites while in Egypts' captivity...for over 400 years? there were men & women who were bornand diedduring that captivity...did He guide those folks? Guidance is equated to mean "be led", or "to urge",both of which He does daily to everyone. problem is, we don't wanna believe that He will "guide' us into 40 years of wilderness, like He did Moses... or how He guided John the Baptist right into prison and death... we wanna think that Daddy has our hand, and He'd NEVER hurt us with his "guidance"............yeah...............right .
I know that the Bible says "....the footsteps of theRighteous are ordered of the Lord"... I believe that!! I also know what it says about being
"guided" if you are not....and we agree thatHE allows..HE punishes( two different items),ALL from HIS guiding hand!!

...has anyone got the answer to my question, yet?

In order for God to not guide them that would have meant that He abondoned them which is not the case. When Moses took them out of Egypt, therewere priests and elders (the political body) so that tells me He guided them from birth to death. We know that at least some of the Isrealites prayed to God to save them, and He did. To have God guide you in your life you have to let Him because He will not make you. God is there calling and if you let Him, He will lead you.

I think what he was asking for though was some encouragement and how to go about doing that more often. But it wouldn't be the first time I have been wrong, and it won't be the last.

In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

A portion of peoples problems do come from not letting God guide them. Sometimes we go through hard times because God is pruning us and trying to bring us closer to Him. And yes sometimes our faith is tested.

Big Country has helped with your other question but I am going to add to it a little. By reading the Bible we are not only learning right from wrong we are getting to know God. Through reading the Bible and prayer we are having a personal ralationship with God. If we are doing these things then we will want what God's will in our lives, and we will begin to live a life that is Christ like. So another words if you are letting God guide you in your life then it will show in your attitude and actions. Church is also very important to Christians. It is where we can go to be fed, and have fellowship. If we surround ourselves with people who are Christians we a certain amount of accountability to help us stay on the right track. It is hard to be a Christian and act in a Christ like manner when we do not have friends who share the same morals and beliefs.

Hope this has helped you. If not keep asking questions.
