Default What We Eat

There was a discussion recently on what is/is not acceptable to eat for a Christian. Thisverse was brought up in the sermon yesterday, and (to me at least) further clarifies.

Matthew 15:11 "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." This was after the Pharisees saw the disciples eating without first washing their hands.

Christ also said in 15:17,18 "Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly and is cast out into the draught? But those things that proceedeth out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man."

Obviously what comes out of your mouth is what is important, not what goes in.

Amen Chad,

But for me..I've change my diet. I've lost 32 pounds so far this year. Eatting can also be a Romans 14 issue according to one's faith..Certainly what we say is what really defiles us as our Lord said.
God bless and good hearing from you Chad.

Looking back, I sorta understood the original posters points. At first he was saying it was for our benefit, and not so much sinful. But sooner or later, finally it came out that he believed we were disobeying God's dietary law.

Would I be better off if I never ate pork again? I am sure my gut would, but my tastebuds would freak out. A week without a pulled pork sandwich with slaw on top, is a bad week

I've also dropped sodas and coffee from my diet..andhavecut back on the carbs like rice...Weight is extremely hard to drop at this time in my life. My wife makes our breads in the bread machine and is very health conscience.
Tonight
Chicken salad on homemade whole wheat toast
Lime water
Black bean soup.

Caffeine helps suppress the appetite. I drink a cup of green tea followed by a cup of coffee, and it has a great effect.

I've been dieting since Jan. 1, off and on, and I've gone from 167 to about 149. I've got 5 - 10 pounds more to go. By summer time, I'll be on a weight-gaining, muscle building plan.

As far as what goes into the mouth, it's certainly not as harmful as what can come out of it (or the fingers on a keyboard). I just try to stay away from gluttony, and I think I'm doing better than in years past.

Coffee . . . coffee??? Why coffee? It has zero calories, helps to suppress the appetite, and contains relatively large amounts of anti-oxidants. The caffeinated kind -- the kind I use - has obvious energy related benefits as well!

Sorry, had to rag on ya! Obviously you don't have to drink coffee, but much of the recent research condones rather than condemns it.

Flushes out B vitamins...this is why the urine is dark yellow..is not good for us studderers..which was my main reason..
