Default Sunday's Sermonette

Good morning all..Hope you Texas people missed the storm that went through there..we are going to get the outer edge of it about daylight in the morning, a lot rain and some hail and possible tornadoes..Please pray for those who are sick and afflicted and especially for those who are lost and with out a Saviour.
Father we come before you with humble hearts, thanking you for your love and mercy toward us..We do pray for those who are discouraged and down hearted, asking you to comfort them as only you can..And now Father as we look at your Word i pray thy sweet Holy Spirit will speak to us and we all will receive a blessing from it..In Jesus name and for his sake i pray, Amen..

5And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;
6For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?
7And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.
8I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
11If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:5-13 kjv.

In my readings i remember the story of the father and mother who daily prayed for their children..for more than 17 years they prayed for their daughter Melissa's health, her salvation and for her protection..just as they had prayed for the other children, they asked God to take care of her..as Melissa became a teenager and she and her friends began to drive they prayed God please protect her..
didn't God understand how much it would hurt to lose such a beautiful young lady with so much potential? Didn't God see that other car coming that warm spring night? They had prayed but yet Melissa was killed as the other car hit them..He said now what? do we stop praying? do we give up on God? do we try to make it alone? Absolutely not prayer is even more vital to us now..our God is still in control and his commands to pray still stands.

My friends, faith is not demanding what we want, it is trusting God's goodness in spite of life's struggles and tragedies..oh yes we grieve. this ole man hasbeen on the mountain top and i have been in the valley, and no matter where i was He was always there, just a prayer away.but we keep on praying..as the Psalmist writes, "Weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning." what a wonderful promise that is.. I have heard people say, well God won't answer my prayers because- you fill in the blank..well that is true, noone can please him, noone can come to him without believing that He is God, who hears and answers the prayer of those who diligently seek him..Without faith it is impossible to please him..Christians ought to be happy Christians should not live defeated, unhappy lives, God has given us that opportunity by having our prayers answered. He says,"Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name; ask, and ye shall receive, THAT YOUR JOY MIGHT BE FULL." don't give up on God, He cares for you far more than we can ever know..

Father thanks again for your Word and the promises you gave us..and Father as always if there is one here that don't know you as lord and Saviour may this be their day of salvation..In Jesus name i pray, Amen.

I woke up to hearing this old hymn on the radio every morning for years..it was broadcast from th Cadle Tabernacle in Indianapolis Ind..B.R. Lakin was the pastor and on any given service up to 10,000 attended.. what a preacher..

Ere you left your room this morning,
Did you think to pray?
In the name of Christ our Savior,
Did you sue for loving favor,
As a shield today?

Refrain:
Oh, how praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day;
So when life seems dark and dreary,
Don"™t forget to pray.

When you met with great temptation,
Did you think to pray?
By His dying love and merit,
Did you claim the Holy Spirit
As your guide and stay? When your heart was filled with anger,
Did you think to pray?
Did you plead for grace, my brother,
That you might forgive another
Who had crossed your way? When sore trials came upon you,
Did you think to pray?
When your soul was bowed in sorrow,
Balm of Gilead did you borrow
At the gates of day?
