Default Sunday's Sermonette

HALLELUJAH!! We serve a risen Saviour, one we can talk to and feel his loving arms embrace us and know that He is there to love us and encourage us..What a wonderful Saviour!
This morning lets remember to pray for those who are sick and afflicted and those that are discouraged and downhearted and especially for those who are lost and without a Saviour.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you this morning for your precious Son and his death on the cross and thank you for his resurrection..help us to better understand what Jesus death and resurrection means to us and we will thank you and love you in Jesus name..Amen.
62Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
63Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
64Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first
65Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
66So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch. Matthew 27:62-66-
then read on in Matt.28:1-7
1In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

Open any good Christian songbook and you will sense the thrill as the writer declares;"I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today. He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today." or "Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph oer his foes", "Because He lives I can face tomorrow" and "He lives on high triumphant over sin and all it's stain."
Those of us who know Jesus Christ as our personal Savior can sing these songs or our own personal melody, every day of our lives, in the good times or the bad, because He lives..Glory to God!!
Where would we be today if our Lord had only died like all men do? to be buried and then just lie there..He couldn't defeat sin and death, then what hope would we have? But Praise God,along with the song writer, ' I know He lives, He lives"! The blessed Hope of all who seek him and the Help of all who find him..
This month let's put away the eggs and the chocolate bunnies, forget the fancy duds and the flowery bonnets, and celebrate Easter for the honor and glory of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ..share him with a friend and introduce someone this month to the one who LIVES!!!!
Alas! and did my saviour bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?
These words from that old hymn never fail to remind me of the difference between the glory of the sacrifice Jesus made and the complete and total unworthiness of myself..that He would devote that sacred head for such a worm as I.If we take a long hard look at ourselves we have to agree with the words of the song. we know that we 'all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" David tells us in the Psalms that,"Behold I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceived me." we all deserve hell and it's only by the grace and mercy of God that we can repent and turn from the ways of the flesh.
"Surely he hath borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:4-6when we consider what God did for us, if we just realize the suffering of Jesus and allow it to break through our hardened, self centered hearts and we come to the understanding that it was all for us, then we can sing the last verse of the song, Here lord, I give myself away-Tis all that i can do..
This Easter give your all to Jesus, for He gave his all for you..
Father thank you for another opportunity to study thy Word and i pray it will help us to draw closer to you..and as always if there is someone here that don't know you as their Lord and Saviour, may this be their day of salvation..in Jesus name and for his sake i pray, Amen
But drops of grief can ne'er repay
The debt of love I owe;
Here, Lord, I give myself away
'Tis all that I can do.
