I know there is a bible verse that says something about dont be around unbelievers. I have a few friends that are they unbelievers they have no problem with what I believe in. Is that verse saying I am to stop hanging around my friends.

Nope. Where did Christ hang out? With sinners. He didnt come for the righteous. I have friends who dont believe. I spend as much time as I can with them.

Think about the Great Commision. Who needs to hear the Good News? Sinners. Could be that you decision to follow Christ will impact one or more of your friend's lives.

I believe you might be referring to the scripture below. God wants us to be in the world but not of the world. Listen I struggle with this. My best friend in Ky, says he beleives in Christ but shows no fruit whatsoever. I would say your going to try to do like me, and try to hang with them, with good intentions of trying to spread the good news of Christ, but if your like me, you will find out, they can just suck you into the world right there with them. Right now, I have 3 friends in particular, who I am considering parting ways with. I tried for the last two years to compartmentlize my relations. In other words, this guy I only hunt with, or this guy, I ride motorcycles with. But it is slowly and surely not working out too well.

If your just wanting to hang around them just to be hang around, thats a different story. I desparately want these three friends to give their lives over to Christ. They are getting tired of hearing me talk about Christ, and are starting to move away from me anyway.

This is an interesting topic. We're not supposed to be "yoked with unbelievers" yet we're also supposed to preach salvation to unbelievers. I am by no means an expert at this in any sense of the word but I THINk (only think) this refers to not getting sucked into unbelievers' wickedness and that we are still supposed to preach to them and pray for them. Chuck7, Caldoc, PreacherToney, etc., can you guys shed a little more light on this?

Deerhunter is talking about goingto bars and such . Personally, when I became a new Christian none of my old freinds wanted anything to do with me. It wasn't that they didn't like me..they all said "We no longer have anything in common." There is nothing wrong with being kind to all men saved or unsaved but the word yoked means harnessed together. Jesus does not want his children harnessed together with unbelievers going back into the thngsGod delivered us from. We are to "Flee all appearances of evil."

I once sited here, that I knew a preacher who shuned his daughter because she became in a family way. She was just a kid . To this dayI walk on the other side of the street.God should be pleased? Staying away from evil is different than turning on your friends and family.The Lord wouldn't even turn from drunks and prostitutes.Do not judge!! or you just may be judged. I don't know if you remember last year when I was worried about this exact problem. You know it worked itself out. It wasn't me that didn't want to hang out but it was they who didn't want to hang out with the zealot anymore. It didn't happen suddenly. Just slowly.

I could be wrong, so please don't get offended, but it appears your getting mixed up those who judge and just seeing with the eyes, or hearing that someone is a unbeliever. There is a difference in the two. Maybe you can show us some scripture on your how you feel. Nobody here is saying turn on anyone. Just making a decision to live in the world and be sucked into it. How do you feel about 1 Cor 6? Do you think Paul was mixed up?

Scripture is never wrong. Only people who think they have the last word.no pun. Yoked together means pulling in the same direction. that direction could be evil That would be wrong. Cal has it right in my opinion.
