Default the lost at young age

I dont know about how people were years ago. It seems like many young people my age are lost. The drink heavy amounts, have premarrial sex, cruse, use gods name in vain, ect. Is it getting worse with each generation? Is this something all young people act when they are young as with age they get better?

Your assessment is correct. This generation is much worse than the one I was in. The Word says in the last days it will be very bad.

2 Timothy 3:1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

I ran around and partied during 1984 and 1991, what I see out of young people now shocks me, they have no respect for anything. My opinon it is alot worse now than it was back in the 80's.

I think this kind of behavior does tend to be more typical of the young and most, but not all, outgrow it with age.

Yes and no. I think many young people in each generation tend to challenge authority and anything their parents support. That is just how some people manage during their teen years. I also think each generation has gotten a little bit worse due to the fact that they have less self-discipline, less boundaries and society has changed so much from close-knit family units to extended families with many latch-key kids. Yes, I played a lot outside when I was young but my mother was at home and available if needed. She also checked up on me and made sure I wasn't getting too far out of line. Many kids today don't have that type of supervision and their parents defend their kid rather than listen to all of the facts and see if their kid is getting out of line.

While this is true, we know that many of these young ones are Gods elect. We may not be able totell who will be saved. Our job is to teach the gospel to them and God will take care of the rest. I know of at least onepretty wild rebellious young man who saw the light.

I'm old fashion and believe this way. Well I got my butt busted everyday and twice on Sunday as child. I knew right from wrong and knew the consequences of wrong and it was severe punishment. There were times that I had bruises on my butt and had trouble setting. I never hated my dad or mom for the bustens I got. I didn't live a perfect sinless life but I didn't do anything like these kids these days. I said "yes sir" and "no sir", "yes ma'am" and "no ma'am" "please" and "thank you". I made mistakes. I respected rules, loved my parents and still do. My personality was not squelched.

I blame parents for the way their children act. I have two children now and I expect them to act a certain way and they know right from wrong. I do bustem' when they disobey.

I told a lady the other day whose child was acting horrible " he acts like that only because you let him" she was highly offended.

Of course in general our morals and sensibilities are eroding away with each passing generation. Families are not staying together anywhere near as much. God is denied in our schools, etc.
This brings to mind an issue that I have some little role in helping with in our school systym. Drug use and violence in the schools. Parents are demanding that we squelch drugs and violence in our schools. First of all relative to the rest of the state and nation we are one of the most drug and violence free school systyms in the country. But never the less it has become an issue. Whats hard to get folk to accept is that public school is a melting pot of all the districts communities. We would have to clear up whats going on in our communities to improve any at all on what is going on in our schools as every human effort is being made by school staff.
Likewise, in relating to the topic, I don't know if we can just say kids are worse today without admitting that parents are worse today. If we could get "grown ups" to take responsibility for themselves, their family, and their communities then the kids would not be victims of our own sins.

i agree, but also remember the things i did growing up, one thing i have noticed with some (not all) of the youth today, is there total disregard for anybody or anything besides themselves, and a lot of it stems from the parents, we are stuck in a me, me, me society, kinda like the old river boat gamblers, get in, grab what you can and get out, the heck with everybody else[:@], but i also see some good and promise in some of our youth, i see several people here trying to live a good Godly life, and make impressions on people around them.

one thing that really gets me nowdays is kids going for the shock factor, i acted out, but i kept my dirty work hid, because like dkhamner, i knew the consequences of my bad behaivior, the last thing i wanted to do was "get caught" i don't think that is much of a factor with a lot of kids nowdays[&o], they either really just don't care, or they are starving for attention, sad either way[&o]
