life is hard

I find it very hard to live a good christian life. I have read a few verses from the bible and some of what God and Jesus said can make your head spin trying to fallow it each day of your life.

I find it rather liberating myself. Not having to worry about the future. Not living off my own will. Relying on someone greater than I could ever imagine to take care of my problems.

I find anything is hard living by, is cause I create the problems.

It's not difficult at all when you submit to God and let Him work in your life.

Excellent thread Fred...and I for one agreed with you for years..until God set me totally free this past month...My dear friend...as long as you slip ,slide and wrestle against God..you will either do 2 things.

Give up altogether or be a first class Pharisee. You will become frustrated at your own failings and to minimize your sin you will stand and judge all the other Christians.to try and lesson your own personal guilt.

The first step my friend is be realwith God about your love to party and your youthful lust. You find a prayer closet my brother..share those concerns with God alone in secret and pray for Himto change your heart and set you free. HE WILL!! It is His will. Then..the tough one..obey Him. HE WILL QUICKLY REWARD YOUR OBEDIENCE....The labor of obedience my friend wil ultimately lead you to a wonderful rest in God . You will have a deeper understanding of people and they will no longer be a nuisance.You will love people in a new way.God will fill you with his joy and peace...and you will long for more and more of God..Breaking through the obedience stage is the key. One song writer put it like this.
"Trust and obey for theres no other way to be happy in Jesus."

i wish i could say it's not difficult. for me no matter what, living a christ like life will always be difficult, not impossible, just difficult. if it weren't difficult there would be nothing special about being a christian. it's going against the flow. you are right tho pastorsteve when u say it's not difficult when u submit to God, but submitting to God is probably the hardest part for me.

chuck you're absolutely right in regards to prayer. i dont know why it took me so long to learn to pray more. i've been setting aside time everyday almost just to talk to God alone. it has helped me immensely.

deerhunter, i would highly suggest praying as much as possible and ask God to help you understand His word.

Well my friend, just like the rest of us, your going to wrestle with these things you want to control. They are going to be thorns in your side until you decide to give them over to God. In reality, you are your own worst enemy. You are the source of your own problems.

I know how you feel. But desparately want to give over to God littely everything. But I keep pulling back, wanting to do it my way. One thing is hunting. Another is guns I buy. Another is money.

Your not alone. Only difference is I realize life is easy if I do it all God's way.

Hey Fred,

It may seem difficult now, but as with most things in life, there is a right way and a wrong way. Once you begin to let God control one or two things, and you see how much better things get, it is easier to turn over the other things.

I can sincerely say that I have never regretted having turned something over to God. Everything I have let Him take control of, has turned out better than I could have ever imagined or worked out on my own.

Just give Him a try. For He is always faithful.

You are right, it's not that it's easy by any means...I guess a better choice of words would be that it isn't burdensome and therefore it isn't that it's easy per se, but rather easier to get through the difficulties.
