Default Hold On.

"Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:" 1 Timothy 1:19

Paul gives timothy some very good advice as he starts his ministry in the church at Ephesus..he tells him to hold tightly to his faith in Christ.many of us hold on to things in our lives that we think is important or needful to us..but don't ya know, the one thing that we are to hold onto above all others is usually the thing we hold loosely or even let go of except when we are in trouble..in all his letters to his young preacher boy Timothy, Paul reminds him of the things that are importent and the things less important..and my friends, Paul's advice is just as important to us today as it was in Timothy's day..hilding on to things that are of little bebefit to us are so often the thing that slows us down or even stops us as we run the race of life for Christ..
"1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2
we need to ask ourselves what things in life do we need to let go of and what things in our lives that we need to hold on tightly to.

have a great week-end and tell someone about Jesus..

Very good reminder...it's inspiring me to put something in our church bulletin about this subject.
As I was reading your post what really spoke to me was "let us lay aside every weight, and the sin". This tells me that some things we need to lay aside are not necessarily sin in our lives, but things that weigh us down anyway. Those things can be things like worry, which tends to take our eyes off God by focusing on our problems instead, or just simply life things that keep us so busy that they hinder us from spending time praying and meditating on God's word.
"Holding faith, and a good conscience".....there is such a lack of good conscience these days that this world is going from bad to worse.

Thanks for a great post Bro. Motor! God Bless you and yours!
