I hope not. I'm in pretty good health but the money truck went right by my house without stopping.

Default RE: Faith / Word Churches Question 1

I started this thread because I was a part of those churches. My answer is the same as Rebs ..no BUT...I have heard some powerfully good preachers who came out of that 70s movement..
"Signs shall follow them that beleive. " Also , the aposles rejoiced when God confirmed his word with signs following." I wish it was automatically a privledge to the believer for I would drive down to the hospitol and heal everyone...but it doesn't work like that. God is the healer, his Spirit is the one who imparts the gifts as He desires and as he wills. I don't believe any individual has a gift in his / her hand. I remember being used one day for a healing...The Lord spoke to my heart that when we have Christ 's Spirit in our heart we have all the gifts. We are complete in Him ."His Spirit and our Spirit are one." And yes DK....most of all us are missing many blessing from the Lord because we settle for a lukewarm state. The Word says."Eye has not seen nor has entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for them that love Him." BIG STATEMENT there my friends..

To love God in that capacity is to die of self...then things do happen...BUT even then...it won't be a bed of roses. If I look at Bible history closely, those who were sold out for God usually go on the mission field ..and as 11 of the 12 disciples...killed / martyred .The higher walk is NOT to be filled with riches..it's to be lost in the will of God. Paul was like that..God showed him many revelations...Paul was a prayer warrior..and yet he prayed 3 times for God to deliver him of a thorn of the flesh..his prayers were not granted..he was only comforted by " My grace is sufficient for you." Yes There is a higher walk my dear friend..and yes I'm striving for it..but as 1 TIM.6 says"IF ANYONE TEACHES THAT THE GOSPEL ISA WAY TO GET GAIN ,HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH SUCH." The higher walk has nothing to do with material gain..or health or popularity..it's the walk that Enoch had...The privledge to walk and be friends with God. Blessings will come and we won't even have to look or claim them. Life is knowing God.

No, but they can be in good health and be wealthy.

A Christian can live dirt poor and sick if they choose to.

Thanks for replying DK..I know there are many who do not believe in the gifts for today..I am one that does. I was hoping we could have a real good study on this subject. I had promiced Manuman a few post ago that I would not belittle anyone again on here..and I plan to keep my word. I've met a few very serious ministers of this ministry and they inpacted my life greatly..signs frequently followed their ministry. I met both while serving in the military myself. They were Bobby Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley of Hinesville GA. I know for a fact that God still moves by His spirit. Both ministers had one thing in common..they were sold out to God. Neither one preached money . Both called an ace an ace and had a powerful annointing on their ministry. I've also seen many hurt by this doctrine and lots of interesting things to say in the least. I would love to discuss this area with you...not to persuade you in the least but to dig in the Word for myself. I'm not interested in the wealth part but I am interested in the healing aspect . My thoughts are good toward you DK and have nothing up my sleeve brother. God has rekindled my faith and I'd love to discuss the subject if your interested.

As you speak Motor ..the book of James comes ot my mind .thanks for sharing brother..

James 2:5 Listen to me, dear brothers and sisters. Hasn"™t God chosen the poor in this world to be rich in faith? Aren"™t they the ones who will inherit the Kingdom he promised to those who love him? 6 But you dishonor the poor! Isn"™t it the rich who oppress you and drag you into court? 7 Aren"™t they the ones who slander Jesus Christ, whose noble name[c] you bear?

Brother,
I'd love to discus this with you. I'd prefer to do it through email or something like this. My personal free time is not always what I'd like it to be due to the military but I'd love to discus this.

The way I feel towards my faith or belief is not measurable. I cant put into words my hearts joy and peace.

I was saved in church under an old penticostal preacher. He was the best screamer in the business. He could preach Hell, Fire and damnation as good as the next. What a awsome message he could preach on condemning the flesh. I ate it like cake!It had me hook, line and sinker, sold out, all out to this kind ofChristian walk/belief.

..The Lord spoke to my heart that when we have Christ 's Spirit in our heart we have all the gifts.
I was under the impression , because of scripture, that we would be given gifts, but we would not be given all of the gifts.

Did I miss something?

1st Cor.

Spiritual Gifts
1Now, dear brothers and sisters,* regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don"™t want you to misunderstand this. 2You know that when you were still pagans, you were led astray and swept along in worshiping speechless idols. 3So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.
4There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.
7A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice*; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.* 9The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages,* while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. 11It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

A commentary from "Gifts of the Holy Spirit" by Kenneth Hagin.

" The Epistle of First Corinthians is not a letter written to an individual; it is a letter written to the whole church. Some have thought that these verses apply to and individual, but Paul was telling the whole church to covet these gifts. Then , as the whole body covets them, the Spirit will devide to every man severally as He wills.

Paul infers here that not every man is going to have all these gifts, because he said, " For to ONE ( not to everybody ) , is given a word of wisdom, to anothera word of knowledge.........."

Some have taken this out of its settingand have thought the Bible was telling the individual to desire these gifts. Actually , Paul was telling the church as a group to covet them. Then , if they do, the spirit will devide to every man severallyas he wills - not as I will, not as you will, but as the spirit wills. "

Gifts of the spirit ... Copyright, 1998, ... reprinted 2006. ... RHEMA Bible Church. Kenneth Hagin Ministries.

God Bless

Michael
