Default Sharing Today's Sermon

I was privileged to hear an outstanding sermon today about proof that God does exist and wanted to share it with anybody who was interested. Please understand this is losing a lot in my repeating it and that it sounded soooo much better when our pastor gave the sermon. If you care to read this, enjoy.

Our pastor gave 4 areas of reasons and talked about how only so much can occur by chance and at some point a rational being must conclude there is some organizing force that creates things the way they are.

Cosmological
Our pastor described the vastness of our galaxy and how impossibly far away the next galaxy is and how scientists had measured that our universe was ever expanding. He mentioned how this essentially confirmed a big bang theory and a point at which our universe began. This beginning leads one to wonder how did it happen to begin or become created. The evidence would point towards an all-powerful being, also known as God.

Teleological
Our pastor explained that this is the word for the designs throughout nature and people. If one looks at how perfectly organized all out natural wonders are, our bodies, even just the human eye which can see objects as far away as 40 miles or a pinhead in front of you (at least when you're younger).

Anthropological
Our pastor mentioned how it was beyond coincidence for so many millions of people to seek and believe in God and that we are built that way by our creator.

Christological
Our pastor mentioned how Jesus was knowledgeable about all of the above and more. How he performed so many miracles so that we could have evidence that he truly was the son of God and our savior.

Obviously my post is an extremely abbreviated version of the sermon but the overall thrust of the sermon was that there is absolutely no way anybody who honestly examines our universe, world, ourselves, etc. could not conclude that it is simply impossible for all of this to randomly happen. The message is that we are given many signs of God's presence and nobody will be able to say to God upon dying that there simply were no signs and thus no reason for a person to accept Christ as our savior. I am still not doing the sermon justice and wish you could have been there also.

I would have liked to hear it also. What has always amazed me is how the more one learns of science the more one is pointed to the creator. The human body is a marvel to study, all the built in checks and balances that keep us going. The mind is still not full understood by scientists. Than I look at the variety of life found on land and sea, the plant life with all its different tastes and nutritional benefits for the consumer. And all the mineral wealth for our use and enjoyment. Just the right amount of each metal. Plenty of iron, not as much copper, less silver and even less gold to give it value.

Last fall, our church hosted a 4 month long series on apologetics. There was plenty of evidence from the creation viewpoint. That's the first thing I jump on when talking to someone who doesn't believe in God. I bet it was a great sermon.
