What are these people's reward? (From Matthew Ch. 6)
[1] Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
[2] Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward
and
[5] And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward

My reference says: "the reward they have sought". Just to be seen of men I guess? What good is that? Working iniquity maybe? Could this be tied directly to Matt. 7-23?

they give and pray to be seen of men and that's the only reward they will get.
then it goes on to say in verse 6-
"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly"
then they will receive their reward from God..

I feel this was writen for the likes of T.V. evanelist types. In other words, those who preach for human glory will get just that, but not Gods Glory.

I think you may want to be careful of what i think your trying to say here. I believe that television evangelist are a great tool to get the Word around the world. There maybe some doing it for the wrong reasons, yetthe Bible is broad casted all over the world. God will deal with them that are in it for the wrong reason. He will also Bless those that are in it for the right reasons.

Let me explain. Not all evangelists, the ones like Robert Tilson, Oral Roberts, or Jim Baker. The ones who build up million dollar empires to suit their worldly greed. Not the many good evangelists. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
The kind I speak of, I feel do more damage than good . Sad to say, one bad apple ruins the bunch.

I'm not trying to pick a fight but there is a fight to faith, but are you speaking of evangelist /teachers like Creflo Dollar, Jesse Duplantes, Joyce Myers, Mark Hankins and Kenneth Copeland? These are my favorites.
I am a Faith and prosperity seeker and doer so to speak.
Kinda what I was thinking. Just wanted some other opinions/thoughts.
And it irritatesme to no end when at church and we're all gathered around the alter I can't concentrate on my prayer b/c someone else is seemingly trying to be louder so others can hear them.Nearly gets me carnal. [:@] All sprawled out as to be in complete submission and all. "Hey look at/listen to me". [:'(]

To be honest...I'm not solid on this piece of scripture...
Why??
Because I see Jesus praying publically ...remember Lazarus.
I see over 100 praying together in the upper room at one time.
There are times for praying publically and in the closet..
AS far as giving alms...diffently in secret...
Fasting is like that.as well...it should be done in secret..but it's very difficult not to talk about the great things God does while doing these things. The act of prayer or fasting becomes part of a later testimony.
We have record of Elijah praying and Jesus fasting.
This is why I'm not real dogmatic when people pray etc.
