Well, after passing on several cow horns and smaller bucks, I up and shoot this small racked buck. He would have prolly been a nice one next yr. What can I say? . . .ground shrinkage.

Way to go brother! Be satisfied and happy with what the Lord has provided for you! He has Shepherd and Guided you thru a Safe hunt and has given you meat.

I'm ready to do some hog hunting now too Rev. Our deer season will end sometime next week but I'm going to wrap it up this weekend. I would'nt have gotten this deer with a bow either. I was all ready to try the bow on a deer this weekend as I was getting fairly accurate with the field tips. But when I test fired with a broadhead I found that my point of impact was quite a bit off. I still have a lot to learn before I try hunting with a bow.[:@]

Thanks Reb, and I'm always thankful for the meat. I don't eat pork or chicken or very much beef, so venison is mainly what I prefer to eat and the Lord has blessed be greatly over the yrs in that area.

Chuck, it used to be considered a trophy here also. Mississippi is an up and coming state for larger antlers tho. I try to not take a deer with a smallish rack if it has good semitry (sp). Sometimes tho, my excitment adds it's own mass.

Dabowhunter, Season opens here in October for bow hunters and ends the middle of Febuary with primitive weapons. Thats why I've taken up the bow . . . . .to add more still hunting time to my seasons as "deer with dogs" has the lions share of the winter deer seasons. I usually start finding sheds over towards the end of April.
Hopefully next October I'll be in the trees with my bow when the season opens. I've got a long way to go to become ready to hunt with this thing tho. This is the bow I'm using . . .Ross CR334 . . .I'm still pondering what to go to for a rest and sight.
