How many was brought up taught that Mary was a whore saved by Jesus?
I have not found any proof in the bible of this accusitions and would this be a sin of false witness and for those to repeat this be just as guilty as the messenger without positive proof? I have been guilty of this and will not say she was a whore. The bibe says she was demon possesed. Now where do they come up with whore from this? To me this is false witness and a top 10 sin.
Well, Luke 7:40 explains the pharasees made a huge deal out of her annointing his feet. They made the comment that Jesus wouldn't let her tough him if he knows what type of women she is. One can only conclude that she was a prostitute. I assume thats what your saying and assume you mean Mary Magdalene?
Yes, I was talking about that mary. But, for one to conclude just on her behavior she used her hair to wash Jesus feet. Is that enough to consider her being of sexual sin? Or could this been to discredit her from being one of the desciples because she was a woman and not a man. This could only been speculated that she was a whore. There is no proof to say she was. Now wouldn't this be considered false witness? I will not call her a whore without evidence other than her washing Jesus feet with her hair. I have been studying the bible, Not a full blown christian I am but I am trying to make sense from it and decipher it. I want to know the truth of many things in it and find the real meaning and saying of God.
I guess I never put much thought or care as to who she was prior to becoming a believer. What really counts is what she became after. I do understand what you are asking though and really don't know the answer.
What I find strange is the bible is made up from men only. There is also a book in the bible written by an unknown author. Does this not make you wonder why only mens writtings are in the bible and not women? There are many talks of women by namebeing prophets in the bible, but yet there is not one book written by them placed in the bible. Is it because man was to superior to women at of the writting of the bible and no women books would be placed in it?

If I were you, I would ask Alex on here to weigh in. I have a feeling that in Hebrew its translated to mean just that. Maybe not.
Honestly, I never worreid greatly about it. I know she was a sinner, and Jesus forgave her. All I need to know.
And, you are pretty way off I believe with thinking washing feet has anythign to do with her being a prostitute. Its clearly in the scriptures the pharasees were just upset for her reputation.
Mary Magdalene was one of seven Mary's mentioned in the NT. She was delivered of seven unclean spirits by Christ, but the assignment of the repuation of being a prostitute is not correct, as you said. It does not constitute, a false witness however, as it is stemming from a misundestanding and some false conclusions, based on several factors. The woman that washed Jesus' feet with her hair (Luke 7)is assumed to be her,but she actually is left unnamed, and this is where most come to the conclusion that she was a prostitute. Also, the town in which she came from, and which is a part of her name--Magdala--was known as a violent and disreputable place, so, again, assumptions are made via association with the town of Magdala.

Yes, There is many marys mentioned in the bible that makes it unraveling what mary was where in the book at the time. But still. To come to conclusion she was a whore because of how she cleaned Jesus feet.
And there was a castle named magdala also and that mary was to be of royal blood of the time also if I read correctly. This is a tangle that needs to be unweaved to know what mary was what.I think many think that there was only two marys in the bible. The mother of Jesus and Mary magdala.I think the writers thru us off when they wrote the bible for a reason though.
Here are the seven Marys---Mary magdalene.Mary, that gave birth to Christ, Clopa's wife, Mary of Bethany, John Mark's mother, one referred to as 'a diligent worker', and Mary the mother of James and Joses, known as the 'other Mary'.
There's nothing in the Bible that says Mary Magdelene was a harlot. We see the story of the harlot about to get stoned by the religious leaders and in the next chapther we are introduced to Mary. It doesn't ever say she was a hooker, but it's logical.
But the whole Mary Magdelene had 7 demons and was a hooker thing is based on church tradition, not biblical proof.
