The other day I watched Saw 3. Pretty gross movie but it does have a point. Which got me thinking what movies should a christian watch? I found a web site and it had both the postive and negtive sides of different movies.

I am guilty of liking to watch movies such as Saw, Sopranos, etc. But one day, my wife looked at me and said, "we shouldn't be watching these". I am supposed to be the priest of my house. The leader. It was a sad thing for my wife to point it out to me. But she is right. What glory are we giving to God watching? None.

Good point BC - I hate it when she's right
It is good to be reminded of our responsibilities in the home as men...Thanks
Fred,
You can do whatever you want to do....the deal is a Christian is a new creation. If you still desire to watch demonic movies something is wrong. if I still desire to sin something is wrong. When our lives don't reflect what is written in the words we need to get our minds cleaned up and renewed. We renew our minds by reading and applying what we read in our lives. The old time Christians such as John Wesley usedto fast twice a week. ...just to practice self control and keep his body in subjection. I won't preach to you my friend because the eyes of the flesh are very tough for all of us . I can tell you though as a Christian since 1976 I still have to read between 5- 10 chapters a day and fast often or I will fall flat on my face. The scripture says in Peter that Lust wars against our very souls...but God's Word is able to keep us from sinning. If I didn't read alot of the Word daily I would be sinning all the time. What you feed grows. Feed your carnal nature Fred and you will grow a monster. Feed your soul my friend and you will be aman of God. .fit for use for his service..
here's a few scriptures that relate to the subject.
Phill. 4: 8Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise. 9You know the teachings I gave you, and you know what you heard me say and saw me do. So follow my example. And God, who gives peace, will be with you.
Psalm 119 : 9Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
10With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
2 Tim. 2:20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2 Cor. 2: 14 Don"™t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? 15 What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil[d]? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? 16 And what union can there be between God"™s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:
"œI will live in them
and walk among them.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.[e]
17 Therefore, come out from among unbelievers,
and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord.
Don"™t touch their filthy things,
and I will welcome you.[f]
18 And I will be your Father,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.[g]"
I am the building consultant for a major movie chain in the US. I can see almost any first run move for free, the last movie I saw in it's entirety was The Passion Of The Christ. There is a lot of trash out there..
Facing the Giants must have been a good movie, one of my sub-contractors went to see it and came out crying. He said it was the best movie he had ever seen glorifying God. If I get a chance to see it, I will.
I don't go to many movies. I'm the guy who never knows what they're talking about when others are discussing movies at work. I have seen a few -- the last one was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe which is very clean and has some good Christian symbolism in it.
Most of the trash out there today is so filled which vulgar language and the like that my wife and I can't stand to watch it.
