When I was a new Christian I learned very much from my mentors ..Mr.and Mrs. Wesley. They were the most loving , mature, in tune people I've ever met. Often I would see her start to say something and stop and just smile. She was a pro at controlling her tongue. When one of his new Christians would bring up S----...she would kindly correct us and say." Let's just refer to him as slewfoot." "Let's not call upon his name." As I read my Bible this morning I was wondering if she hadn't had this concept enbedded in her heart.
Exodus23: 13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
Slewfoot eh? never heard that one i dont think..
( some ppl think if you say some things out loud etc it will make them come to)
You arent saying satan is a god to then are you?
Prince i have heard him called- but not god( all these he,s)

Jude Verses 8-11 "Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah."

RE: The names of other gods.
Other gods??? There is only one true God.
I understand what you mean Chuck. I will use the term to discribe him. Either way, if you call him slewfoot, legba, lucifer, diablo, its all the same. Just a term for discriptive purposes. Or as I see it. You have got to have some way to explain him. Even if you do not use a term, you are still making reference about him. I do not see that as calling up on him. But im also a fond believer that one must do what makes himself comfortable. I by no means, am trying to poke fun or try to sway your opinion.

I appreciate the reply fellow teacher.I do know going through Bible school I did not like studying the cults. I'm a pretty simple down ot earth person and took it literally when the word says ."Be simple toward that which is evil and wise toward that which is good."
I appreciate the reply brother . We need to see more of you on here. I enjoy reading your post. When ever I see your name I get a mental picture of that dead rattlesnake you shot through the head with your bow. What a shot from a stand.!
